I just wanted to share my excitement and gratitude to God for my diligent bicycling exercise routine this year. As of today, I've bicycled 2,518 miles and my goal is to reach 3,000. Barring a major injury or death, I should reach 3,000 by mid-November. Hooray!
Are there any bicyclists out there? By the way, I'm a road biker, but not much of a mountain biker. Bye for now - I'm going riding for a couple of hours this afternoon. The weather looks perfect! -Steve

Steve,
Your milage thus far averages to about 8 miles a day. Unless you're an old timer and having trouble with those CO mountains, you'll have to do better next year ( - =

Steve,
I was kidding with you about your mileage. Even though I am 45, I can still ride my bike a long ways. My hey dey era was back in the 70's. Back then, I was able to keep up with the BIG BOYS. Wool jerseys and wool shorts with real leather chamois was the "in" thing. Toe clips and the bell biker helmet was often seen on club rides. My bike is equipped with the vintage Campy Super Record. My goal this year was to do a century ride with the local bike club. I did do the ride, but it was a long, long ride.
I hope you do meet your goal of 3,000 miles this year. My goal when I hit 50 is to ride coast to coast. I'm off to bed. Ride carefully!

RTK... You've got to ride coast to coast! That's one of my dreams! I'm actually considering bicycling across America perhaps as early as next summer, although summer of 2007 might be more realistic. Man oh man, don't get me going about how I want to go coast to coast. May I show you this? Here's a pictorial of my bike ride across the state of Colorado. It took me ten days, but I took my time: www.stevegarufi.com/bikewesternslope.htm-Steve

Steve,
Thanks for sharing the trip info with me. I've been to CO quite a few times. It is a beautiful state. Colorado Springs is one of my favorite areas.
Coast to coast in 2010. Back to reality, I thank the Lord for this day for what ever it holds.

An update: I'm up to 2,916 as of today. Coast to coast in 2010? My plan in the next few months is to create an informational web site that will cover every conceivable topic related to bicycling across America. Stay tuned!

"Every conceivable topic related to bicycling across America"....Okay, okay I know you went across CO, but I hope to hear that you will be packing for this trip as well:cool:
As far as why we are even on this web site, well, the evil one is tring to distract me today (what's new) and get me to check out things off that are off the narrow path. We know what happened to Little Red Riding Hood don't we. Keep me in prayer that I'll have a good day keeping my eyes on Him and my thoughts in His Word. Thanks, Steve.
Please send me the web site url when you get things together

Hang in there, RTK.
Tell me, do you have at least one person whom you can talk to about your struggles/issues? I'm convinced the idea of confession to God and another human being is so critical. And sometimes we just need a venue to let things out when there's turmoil inside us. Be encouraged!

Steve,
I agree with you wholeheartedly. Thanks for asking about if I have someone to talk with. At present, I am unaccountable. When our insurance changes in a few months to cover a part of therapy, I will probably get back in touch with my therapist every month or so for accountability - "maintenance" is what she called it.
Curently, I am doing pretty well. If I start to slide, you can be sure that I'll go see my therapist and pay the $100+ out of pocket if I have to. This forum helps me stay on the straight path.
As I read through the forums, I feel burdened for the wives whose hopes and dreams have been dashed by husbands who have sexual addiction problems. It sobers me to hear some of the stories of guys who are not as far along on the path as I am. It scares me just to reflect on the power of sexual addiction and the "urgency" that screams to be satisfied...and then there are the consequences of guilt and shame....what a vicious cycle that I'd rather stay far away from!

Thanks for the compassion, RTK! One thing I really like about these forums is how real people, especially the men, are about their "stuff"! It is healing to me to see men pursuing purity and realness with God and man. That even when they share here about their temptations......or failures......they are striving to be honest and true. This alone exposes the lies of the enemy in their lives and the lives of those encountering similar situations/temptations who may read here. Anyway, speaking for us wives/spouses, we'd appreciate any prayers this burden may cause you to offer up for us. Thanks, again! Prayed for you as well. captivated

Ice cream?! I got a big ol' cigar that I plan to smoke tomorrow with my bicycling buddy. We're meeting in South Fork and plan to bike up to Creede, before coming down. Oh heck, if you want ice cream, go ahead and have it. Vanilla with Heath Bar crunch and chocolate chip cookie dough are my two favorite flavors. -Steve
