Lust is that sexual fantasy and sexual desire that tempts your soul by introducing images and thoughts and desire into your mind. Lust wants to make you it's slave, so that it receives your worship, your attention, your service to it. It is more than a strong force of feeling "horny" or "turned on" or "sexually stimulated". It's a powerful force that you are not going to master or beat, unless you have a new master and are under His authority. I'm talking about the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus was able, is able, and will be able to cast out all lust in your mind, your thoughts, your dreams, your life, your relationships, your work, you personal life, and your free time.
The key to overcoming this obstacle is not more willpower, not more good works.
The key is simply this.
'“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me. For I am meek and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”' Matthew 11:28-30
How to come to Jesus? like this.
'Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight, so that You are justified when You speak, and You are blameless when You judge. I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me. You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You make me to know wisdom. Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, that the bones that You have broken may rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will return to You. Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God, God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For You do not desire sacrifice, or I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.' Psalms 51:1-17
' He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.' Proverbs 28:13
'If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.' 1 John 1:8-10
The heart, your soul, your mind, your body, your emotions, all of you, God is seeking you and wants to heal you and set you free.
This is because God loves you. This love of God is the real key that will set you free. The promises of God is the real key that will set you free. The Word of God is the real truth that will set you free. The personal relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the real way to be set free because this is all God's power.
I am not able to tell you how to control or manipulate God. That is foolish. God is way smarter than you and is not able to be tricked or manipulated. God simply wants you to be truthful and honest and with integrity.
Be truthful and honest to God
Be truth and honest with yourself
Admit the wrong, the worry, the burden, and desire it no more, going to Jesus, asking for helping and praying and weeping and mourning and fasting.
How much do you want God?
Is God worth it?
God thinks you were worth dying for
God thinks you are worth it.
God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Believe in God's love.
The battle that lust will do to you.
Lust is a liar, it will say these things
1. you sinned too much to be forgiven
2. you are just faking it
3. you are not really sorry
4. you are in love with the issue and not really wanting to change
5. you are a liar
6. you are a fake
7. you are a hypocrite
Realize that lust wants you too, but not to help you, but to enslave you. The Bible says this.
'If you do well, shall you not be accepted? But if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. It desires to dominate you, but you must rule over it.”' Genesis 4:7
God's counseling was simple and true. God gave us the condition we are in. Sin (it/lust) desires to dominate you, but you (reader/writer) must rule over it.
God is the one who wants us to have freedom and victory over this lust. God is not trying to tempt you. The Bible says
'Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil; neither does He tempt anyone. But each man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. ' James 1:13-14
1. admit your own desire (that means, "I want this")
2. admit that God is not tempting me
3. admit that I am being enticed and lust is enticing me using my own desires
What is your desire? Do you desire sex? Do you desire to make someone a sex slave to do what you wish? Why? Why is God's plan of marriage of one man and one women not good enough for you? Is it because lust enticed you that the "forbidden fruit" is "pleasing to the eye, and make one wise"?
'When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasing to the eyes and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. So they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.'
Genesis 3:6-7
The serpent used something good (a tree and a fruit) but enticed our first parents of Adam and Eve to "look" at this fruit and "understand" the secret message behind it. What is the secret message? The lie, the hidden hook? Let's read the Bible to see what the serpent told them.
'Then the serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! For God knows that on the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”'
Genesis 3:4-5
Here is the contents of the secret message.
- You will not die (truth is you will die emotionally, physically, and spiritually)
- Your eyes will be opened (truth is your sin will blind you, and separate you from God and a good personal relationship with the Lord Jesus. )
- You will be like God (truth is your sin is against God's Word and God's nature and you will become a partaker in disobedience and belief in a lie which is the character of the devil.)
Whatever form of sexual immorality you are dealing with, practicing, fantasizing over, desiring, it is most definitely doing these to you right now and will do it unless God intervenes and you seek God right now.
- truth is you will die emotionally, physically, and spiritually
- truth is your sin will blind you, and separate you from God and a good personal relationship with the Lord Jesus.
- truth is your sin is against God's Word and God's nature and you will become a partaker in disobedience and belief in a lie which is the character of the devil.
Is it worth it?
Let's clarify now the forbidden fruit and give you scriptures to sober you up.
' My son, attend to my wisdom, and bow your ear to my understanding, that you may regard discretion, and that your lips may keep knowledge. For the lips of an immoral woman drip as a honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil. But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death, her steps take hold of Sheol. She does not ponder the path of life; her ways are unstable, and she does not know it. Hear me now therefore, O children, and do not depart from the words of my mouth. Remove your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house, lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel; lest strangers be filled with your wealth, and your labors go to the house of a stranger; and you mourn at the last, when your flesh and your body are consumed, and say, “How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof! And I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me! I was almost in utter ruin in the midst of the congregation and assembly.” Drink waters out of your own cistern, and running waters out of your own well. Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, streams of water in the streets? Let them be only your own, and not for strangers with you. Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth. Let her be as the loving deer and pleasant doe; let her breasts satisfy you at all times; and always be enraptured with her love. Why should you, my son, be intoxicated by an immoral woman, and embrace the bosom of a seductress? For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord , and He ponders all his goings. His own iniquities entrap the wicked himself, and he is snared in the cords of his sins. He will die for lack of instruction, and in the greatness of his folly he will go astray.' Proverbs 5:1-23
' A wayward person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth. He winks with his eyes, he signals with his feet, he motions with his fingers; perversity is in his heart, he devises mischief continually, he sows discord. Therefore his calamity will come suddenly; in a moment he will be broken without remedy. These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness who speaks lies, and he who sows discord among brethren. My son, keep your father’s commandment, and do not forsake the instruction of your mother. Bind them continually upon your heart, and tie them around your neck. When you go, they will lead you; when you sleep, they will keep you; and when you awake, they will speak with you. For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life, to keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a seductress. Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, nor let her allure you with her eyelids. For by means of a harlot a man is reduced to a piece of bread, and the adulteress will prey upon his precious life. Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one walk upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? So he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife; whoever touches her will not be innocent. Men do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry. But if he is found, he will restore sevenfold; he will give all the substance of his house. But whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he who does it destroys his own soul. A wound and dishonor will he get, and his reproach will not be wiped away. For jealousy is the rage of a man; therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. He will not regard any ransom, nor will he rest content, though you give many gifts.' Proverbs 6:12-35
'My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments within you. Keep my commandments and live, and my teaching as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call understanding your kinswoman, that they may keep you from the immoral woman, from the seductress who flatters with her words. For at the window of my house I looked through my casement, and saw among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding, passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house in the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night. And there a woman met him, with the attire of a harlot, and subtle of heart. She is loud and stubborn; her feet do not abide in her house. Now she is without, now in the streets, and lies in wait at every corner. So she caught him, and kissed him; and with an impudent face said to him: “I have peace offerings with me; this day have I paid my vows. Therefore I came out to meet you, diligently to seek your face, and I have found you. I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt. I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning; let us solace ourselves with love. For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey; he has taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.” With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she seduced him. He went after her straightway, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, until a dart struck through his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, he did not know that it would cost him his life. Listen to me now therefore, O children, and attend to the words of my mouth: do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, do not go astray in her paths; for she has cast down many wounded, and many strong men have been slain by her. Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death.' Proverbs 7:1-27
' I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and whose hands are fetters. He who pleases God escapes her, but the sinner is taken by her.' Ecclesiastes 7:26
Now that you know what the Bible says about adultery and the immoral man and immoral women. There is more truth to be discovered about this.
We have said that we are all sinners, and having enticed by our own lusts, this means, the women in your life, who is the trigger or one you lust for, is also a trapped soul.
You ought to know this too.
'But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Early in the morning He returned to the temple. All the people came to Him, and He sat down and taught them. The scribes and Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery. When they had put her in the middle, they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. Now Moses in the law commanded us to stone such, but what do You say?” They said this, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear them. So when they continued asking Him, He stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Being convicted by their conscience, those who heard it went out one by one, beginning with the eldest even to the last. Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had stood up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.” Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.”' John 8:1-12
Jesus has a heart for all people, including the ones trapped in sins, both men and women.
This is very clear.
The person you had sexual fantasies of being with
The person you had an experience with
God is on both sides of the man and the women to reconcile them both to God, without the sin, and has a heart for the sinner.
Do you see?
Lust and the serpent are the ones trying to convince you to believe the lies. What lies? These are some.
- Sex is your right
- Sex is ok
- Do whatever you want
- Do what feels good
- There is no death
- There is no consequences
- Just bliss and heaven
Those are all lies.
The truth about sex is that God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply and in Proverbs, we are told that man should be intoxicated with his wife, not with a forbidden women. That is the truth.
What you need to know about emotions is this. Emotions come from your thoughts. So if you feel doomed, lost, and depressed, find the truth in Gods' Word and learn how to get right with God and healed from God, and believe in God, despite your emotions, and feelings, trusting in God's promises, and letting go of your old understanding and old ways.
If you feel like you are hopeless, it's only a "feeling" and "feelings" are NOT truth, God's Word is truth. Remember, the lust and enemy is playing into your feelings. Manipulating you, Satan, his demons, evil forces, are all master manipulators, only out to kill, steal, and destroy. They seek your soul, your death, your insanity.
Now it's time for hating what is evil and using God's Word, with God, filled with the Holy Spirit to fight in spiritual warfare.
Now it's time to ask God for the Holy Spirit.
'“If a son asks for bread from any of you who is a father, will you give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will you give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will you offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?”' Luke 11:11-13
'Now, Lord, look on their threats and grant that Your servants may speak Your word with great boldness, by stretching out Your hand to heal and that signs and wonders may be performed in the name of Your holy Son Jesus.” When they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness.' Acts 4:29-31
Resist the Devil, as Jesus did now. 'Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil. And He had fasted for forty days and forty nights, and then He was hungry. And the tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones be turned into bread.” But He answered,
“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’ ” Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, and set Him on the highest point of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written, ‘He shall give His angels charge concerning you,’ and ‘In their hands they shall lift you up, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” Jesus said to him, “It is also written,
‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ” Again, the devil took Him up on a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their grandeur, and said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me. ” Then Jesus said to him,
“Get away from here, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.’ ” Then the devil left Him, and immediately angels came and ministered to Him.' Matthew 4:1-11
'For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is complete.' 2 Corinthians 10:4-6
'Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your waist girded with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, having your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace, and above all, taking the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the fiery arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit always with all kinds of prayer and supplication. To that end be alert with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints. Pray for me, that the power to speak may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may speak boldly as I ought to speak.' Ephesians 6:10-20
Practical thinking on the others who would entice you to sin
- they all stink
- they all need showers
- they all need Jesus
- they all have their own troubles
- they all have their own issues
- they all will be judges for every thought, idle word, secret intentions of the heart
- they are very similar to you, so fear God, not man, pray for their salvation, and turn from evil
The forbidden fruit is rotten inside but appears good only outwardly, thus, the forbidden fruit is a lie, a belief contrary to the truth and command of God, the lie is from hell, from the father of lies, from Beelzebub, Satan, Lucifer.
You are not a match on your own, you need God, you need others to support you, and share and pray for you and with you and you pray and support others too. We don't need to envy one another anymore. That is old thinking. We are very similar in this war against evil and onto purity with God.
'For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: how Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
