Still alive, been on family vacation for the week. Things are going alright but could be better. Will add more, just didn't want anyone to think I just left.

Doing alright, just trying to hang in there. Spent time with family last week, which was fun yet I am still feeling like I am dealing with issues that make me not care. :/ So I am trying to keep my hea dup and just see the light at the end of the tunnel. Getting there...

Been thinking a lot lately, so I haven't been talking much. Trying to assess how things are in life right now and the stressors in my life. Plus dealing with family issues. First and foremost I am doing alright, but I am trying to get a handle on things and evaluate my home and work life as it stands. Still praying, and still trying to do right. So for everyone this weekend, be well and be safe.

It may seem strange about dreams, but it is something that comes up at times in AA meetings. They tend to cause fear early in sobriety for those who's whole life has been taken over by alcohol. Most of the time the recommendation is; it's OK, they will pass. And though I've only had one drinking dream that I can recall. It was negative and positive for me.
On the negative part of the dream; I had a friend who drank in my home. He was living with us at the time. In the dream, I picked up his drink without thinking about it and took a drink myself.
On the positive note; When I got up the next morning, I acted on the premise that the dream was a warning to me and asked my friend, not to drink in the house anymore. And it worked and no more dreams too. Was it God guiding me? I don't know. But I do remember another dream I'll share about.
Back around 1980, at the time I was spending a lot of time in the word, praying and listening to as many sermons as I could. (I've been recording sermons since around 1978 at least 4-6 hours a day) The dream: I went to sleep and started dreaming having intercourse with my daughter. And boy did that really bother me in the dream enough I cried out to God. I asked Him to rebuke Satan for tempting me and send him on his way. And surprisingly I felt the peace we get when we sense the presence of the Holy Spirit at work in us. When I awoke, I knew I had won a battle in the power of the LORD. Let me draw our attention to: Act_2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: (KJV)
Now I know this scripture is pulled out of context, and we don't interpret scripture by our feelings. Yet while recalling this dream, the scripture still came to mind.
As to dreams involving our past addictions/sins scripture is not quiet about them. That is, the sin that so easily besets us. Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles(KJV; besets) us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Heb 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (NASB)
Mat_26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Mar_14:38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. (KJV)
Psa_95:8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
Mat_6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Mat_26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Mar_14:38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
Luk_8:13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
Luk_11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Luk_22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
Luk_22:46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
1Co_10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1Ti_6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
Heb_3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
Jas_1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. (All quotations are from the KJV)
There is no peace like the peace of the man who loves to lie down at night with the thought of God possessing his mind and heart. Happy the man who delights to recall the thought of God before he sinks into slumber!
Marc I noticed you are worried about dreams and such in your last post. I have mentioned this in other post so I am not sure if you have seen me give this advice before but here it is...pray over yourself and your dreams before you sleep. Ask God to give you purity in your dreams and the strength to say no and turn from them when wrong dreams come to you. He will grant your request. Ask for Him to help you praise and worship Him while you sleep. I just recently added that to my nighttime prayers...talk about powerful! I have been waking up every morning singing praises to our Holy and Mighty God ,our Loving and Merciful Father for the last few days. Random thoughts need to be trod on like the filth they are when you recognize them. Immediately turn your mind back to God and praise Him. Do not dwell on those random thoughts. Repent and turn your mind back to pursuing God with all your being.

Sorry for not being around, things have been either improving, or just dragging and lagging. Plus work picked up so much that I've been super busy. All is alright, not actually bad but also not exactly great. I am still hanging in there, I am still advancing, in steps smaller than I like, but better than I was during the start of my journey. Be well all.

Afternoon everyone. I am still alive, still here, just drained and wrung out. So I haven't felt like saying much of anything. I am still doing well, yet I am still struggling on a day to day basis not with the addiction itself, but the effects to my life having to deal with the consequences. So between work and trying to find some family balance I have just been "here" so to say. Not desiring to backslide so I feel good with that, but fighting the urges and thoughts that I can't control (such as when asleep) are the most draining. So everyone, I am alive, and I am somewhat well and I am still pressing on. Even with the lows, this is still a better way to live than when having porn as a focus. Be well everyone.

I can tell that you suffered some severe consequences as a result of your P use. In some ways, consequences can be a blessing. Without consequences, many of us simply get away with acting out.
So it looks like you're on a good track. I don't know anyone that does recovery perfectly. It takes a lifetime to master.
And your words, "still a better way to live than when having P as a focus," ring very true. P tells us that we're missing out on all the fun everyone is having. We imagine ourselves experiencing a euphoria, but it's all a lie. And as recovery progresses, we understand that making the less exciting choices bring about the greatest possible outcome.
Thanks for checking in with us.

Still alive, not necessarily well. Currently dealing with an issue at home, but I am doing alright. Hang in-there. Dealing with issues even at home can take a lot out of us at times. And if your anything like me, getting my mind wrapped around things can at times, be a very daunting time. Feel free to e-mail(on my bio page) me if you need to unload. Virgil

@marcd hello, I am just reading your thread right now. How have you been? Well, I hope your marriage and family life has improved. I know it is to have female co-workers because where I work, it's like 80% of our workforce. God is able to do the impossible if we submit to Him. I'm learning how to do this. Well, if you have any updates or anything it would be great if you shared it. I hope you are blessed today.
