It has been asked time and time again why so few...? In reading my Bible this morning I came across this passages of Scripture. People long ago asked Jesus that question. For lack of space I won't write out the entire verses. They are: Matthew 13:1-58 ISV

Proverbs 3:5-6English Standard Version (ESV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

The LORD revealed to me that my trust issues don't actually begin with men. They begin with fully trusting God. I found a Bible study on my YouVersion Bible app for trust. This is one of the verses for today:
The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. Exodus 14:14 NLT

Reading these verses with new lenses... Committing everything I do to God limits the poor behaviors that I have. For example... Why would I want to commit "worry" to the LORD? “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you.” Psalms 37:4-5 NLT bible.com/116/psa.37.4-5.nltAlso... Trusting in God first makes more sense than any other option. People will always fail us. “It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in people.” Psalms 118:8 NLT bible.com/116/psa.118.8.nlt

Wonderful verses curly. Thank you for sharing them. One thing I am having to do again is learn to trust God. It is easier this time around but after being so badly hurt by my ex, I found myself not trusting God again.

Sometimes it feels like God is not working and that any amount of trust I give Him is for nothing. When I let go of myself and fully jump in to trusting God... I do feel differently. I am learning to embrace that new feeling instead of clinging to the old feelings. I am learning to fly. This is how I know my trust in God is growing. My heart feels lighter... I am able to enjoy life... I am able to reach out to others in love and not focus on their faults (I have plenty of my own faults!). “But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NLT bible.com/116/isa.40.31.nlt

Here is another one... God does what He says He does. He is a mighty God. “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 NLT bible.com/116/isa.41.10.nlt

My needs... to be fully wanted, loved, and accepted by my partner. Tainted reality seems that I will never be enough for him. His wandering eyes and mind prove that point. Truth is: I am enough. I am more than enough for Christ. I am perfect in His eyes. He loves me with reckless abandon. He wants me, He loves me, and he fully accepts me. God does supply my needs. It's my job to focus on Him. Everyday. Paul wrote: “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NLT bible.com/116/php.4.19.nlt

We are important to God. He is concerned about every aspect in our lives. “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” Psalms 56:8 NLT bible.com/116/psa.56.8.nlt

“The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.” Psalms 91:14-15 NLT bible.com/116/psa.91.14-15.nltSomeone once asked, "What good is it if God is with you in the suffering but He doesn't save you?" He is with you. He lives in you. The wrong that happened to you... happened to Him. The temptations that dance around in your head... are dancing around His head. He is with you... cling to Him more tightly. Your struggle is real. He will honor you.

Romans 13:14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

Isaiah 40
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
My question to everyone including myself: Where do you place your hope?

8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Thank you all for the verses in this thread. The prior ones are my favorite because whatever weakness I feel, Christ bore them all on the cross.
Whether we are the addict, or the spouse...we ALL are in need of forgiveness. We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Jesus gave his life for all of us, and I need to remember that when I have vengeful and hateful thoughts toward my husband or anyone else. We need more compassion, more humility, more kindness toward each other no matter the circumstance. In my case, I have learned that whatever the fiery trial or storm that God allows, He is still God and we don't need to know the 'why', we only need to trust and obey. He will make all things beautiful in His time, even though we may not understand right now. God bless you all!

Romans 5:1-5
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Anyone else ever feel like saying "OK God my character needs a rest."? There are times like this last year that I have felt like saying this over and over again. The hope and coming out on the other side stronger is nice but going through the trials really suck.
