Wow, not much action on this board! One week and no replies! Here's a related community which seems to be more active, but doesn't necessarily include a faith-based perspective. I sympathize with you, Stev. You are not alone! I find myself particularly vulnerable to porn when I am disrupted... by negative events (such as a fight with my wife), or even by positive events (such as an intense worship experience). I'm learning to be grateful for these reminders from God of just how much I depend on Him. It also helps me to stay engaged in a recovery community, like Celebrate Recovery. Are you involved with a recovery community? I'm sure there is something available in Brisbane, but I don't know about Bundaberg. Whatever you do, don't give up on seeking to be the man you want to be... intentionality is everything! Even when we stumble, we can still claim "that's not who I want to be", and deny Satan his foothold in our life.

Thank you for sharing and maybe it doesn't mean much coming from me but I am so proud of you and I am proud of all of the men and women on this forum that are taking these steps to recovery. It is so cool! and very motivating.

I'm glad to hear from you, Steve.
We're glad you seen to be making good progress.
98 days of sobriety from porn is truly a great gift. You should embrace that.
If and when you decide to deal with your masturbation, consider still giving yourself credit for your sobriety from pornography. That's what I did back in 2006. Even though I was determined to embrace celibacy at that moment after many years of masturbating, I still gave myself credit for the 2 years of sobriety that I received from pornography. It was kind of like celibrating 2 sobrieties, one from porn and the other from masturbation.
Of course, we all understand that sobriety is not the same as purity. When we compare our lives to God's standard, we've still have a long way to go. Let's encourgage each other to move forward to that standard.
Thank you for sharing, Steve. And congratulations!

Steve64, Amen to that. Great job!! I am so elated by your progress and attitudes. Your family and son will benefit tremendously from your changes of heart. I don't doubt that the saints and angles in heaven are cheering you on as well in a very loud chorus and God is smiling with joy. Having led a men's purity group for nearly three years I know that temptation and slipping can inevitably occur. Don't be dismayed if there is a slip but also gain strength as the days of sobriety lengthen. I've seen guys slip and become so dismayed they temporarily leave our group. Those who gain victory over the long term say it the getting up again after a slip and confessing and repenting and working harder that ultimately helps them gain total freedom. Just AA members know that temptation is a life-long battle so we in SA need to understand the same thing. To God be the glory and peace be with you, Nikanor
