Temptation

I haven't had time to read all the replies, but my H and I just started Celebrate Recovery and it's an answer to prayer for both of us.

He now has a sponsor and his wife is going to help me. We will go on Wed. night to go through books that will peal back the onion layers of both our pain Biblical and Thurs. night to group meetings.

BTW, I want to congratulate you on your sobriety, keep up the good work!

There was a time when it was a boundary for me to have access to the internet, cable, or an ATM card.  It's funny how me and my family have grown dependent on these things.

Floyd McClung, a former missionary in Amsterdam, shared how he and his family had to walk through the Red-Light District on a regular basis.  He shared how he and his children intrinsically withstood the public display of sin in their path.  Talk about, "Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death..."  They lived it on a daily basis.
And I feel that we're doing something very similar.  When the internet first came out, my friends in recovery and I were dropping like flies.  I saw men, with stretches of sobriety lasting years, come crashing down as a result from acting out on the internet.  P is so accessible now.  I used to be able to lean upon my boundaries, but not so much anymore.  Now, I need to demonstrate self-control on a much more consistent basis.  But that's okay.  God likes the new, stronger, "me".  Beware that accessibility to P will not go away.  In fact it will get worse.  Josh McDowell expressed this in a huge way in his message this year at Moody Founder's Week.  The link is below.

Virtual Reality technology called Oculus rift (Refer Google).  Has been out for a year. 

Steve, I'm glad that you and I both see eye to eye on the severe ramifications that this new technology will offer. It will take acting out s*xually to a whole different level. And it will be very tempting for a PA to resist it.

Everyone, pray that we, as Christians, will resist the temptation to buy into this. It will claim to offer pleasure. And some will justify that it's not sin. Both men and women will be sucked into it's lies. But understand that as pleasing as it may look, it will take people to their death. And pray that we at BG will be able to respond appropriately to it.
