Your comments are helpful. Thank you for your honesty.
One thing has begun to become clearer to me in recent years: the fact that God's grace is bigger, wider and deeper than I ever imagined. The corollary is that I am much more at risk of underestimating His grace and mercy than I am of overestimating it.

Nor do I have a solution to your concerns. One can certainly make a distinction between hating sin and hating the sinner, but I'm not sure this leaves me completely comfortable with some of the Bible's words about judgment. Personally, I'm finding in recent years that my resistance to judgment of self or others is becoming a barrier between me and Christianity. Where this will lead in the end isn't yet clear. In any case, I understand your discomfort. Thanks for sharing again. I think it is more important to search for what is true than try to follow some Scriptures just because they are Scriptures and because somebody says they shall be followed, but that doesn't mean that they are not true.
