Have you learned anything that can help you when the next temptation strikes? Don't give up and don't let condemnation set in. You can do it with the Lord leading you.

SBG I have the willpower of a gnat. Yet God has honored my device dedication to Him which were many. I don't want to break my agreement with the Lord. But I still have gone to the place of is there any device I forgot about that isn't dedicated to Him. Evil to the core we are, but this has helped me greatly. The absence of porn and the stress it causes between my relationship with God and my wife is refreshing. Still can act out in my thoughts and with my eyes! So now I need the courage to dedicate those to the Lord. Think and pray about dedicating what ever devices you use to act out on to the Lord. Praying for you brother!

God's chastening hand is actually a blessing. But to help myself NOT forget, I must continue with a new seriousness.
One important change (it must be important because Satan fights it every time in time of temptation) is to look back in my journal and actually read, in the Bible, some of the Scriptures that were a blessing to me in the past.

Anything that the enemy fights must mean we are to do it because the Lord wants us to. Put that nugget you gleaned in front of yourself daily so that you remember. You can with the Lord conquer this sin addiction because you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

Amen!
One of you mentioned "intrusive thoughts." So often when they come I tend to think they've won already... I'm just too weak. All lies! My focus is to be the greatness, majesty, and power of my God. And it's time to start thinking about His promises again.

Yes! So true! It's not the temptations attacking that is our responsibility, it is what we do about it. If we immediately ask the Lord Jesus to take it away and give it completely to Him, we don't want it any more, then that is overcoming!

odb.org/2020/08/23/no-fishing-allowedThis lifted my spirits! NOW... I must do the work of self-discipline and calling on Jesus. I must continue with a Bible passage for each day, that I will actually go back to and read in time of need, and keep reading the others that have blessed me.

From our pastor: the strong suggestion that we read "The Practice of Godliness" by Jerry Bridges. For those of us who are reading it, it cost us $11 through Amazon, but I love a print book where I can underline and mark up heavily.
I'm about halfway through, and it's important to read it all, not (in our case) jump ahead to holiness and self control. It's all a vital part of the same thing.
And yes, I've taken as big stumble (at least one) since starting it; nevertheless, God is doing good things in my life through it.

This is a part of Psalm 107. I love this Psalm!
10 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and in irons, 11 for they had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High. 12 So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor; they fell down, with none to help. 13 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. 14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and burst their bonds apart. 15 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! 16 For he shatters the doors of bronze and cuts in two the bars of iron.

I would just like to give a shout-out to God for His promises being totally true. Proven this morning, again. Bad time of physical exhaustion and the pull of temptation. THANK YOU JESUS!
Here it is, proven once again..... 1 Cor. 10:13, quoted here from the NIV.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Praise God! I remember a series of sermons from my first pastor about the Word of God. The one statement he made has stuck with me when he said "God's Word Works". Told us to write it down and remember it.

Yes, God's Word is such a rich treasury of strength, encouragement, peace and joy! Which Scripture shall I choose to share here today?
Psalm 119 Beth section....
How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. 10 With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! 11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. 12 Blessed are you, O LORD; teach me your statutes! 13 With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth. 14 In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. 16 I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.

Day 2 in progress. Not much I can say. The only valuable thing would be if I do better over the long haul.
Later... my daily reading took me to Isaiah chapter 1, so maybe I can be allowed to take this as God's personal message to me, especialy verses 16-19 of chapter 1. That is encoraging, and lifts my spirit to have hope again.
