Agree! Agree! Agree!
Also, may I add it helped greatly to type out my current struggle and not play with it before it took root.
I distracted myself with scripture and prayer. God is always faithful. Even started to use my Bible memory app.
Psalm 119:11-16(ASV) 11 Thy word have I laid up in my heart, That I might not sin against thee. 12 Blessed art thou, O Jehovah: Teach me thy statutes. 13 With my lips have I declared All the ordinances of thy mouth. 14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, As much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on thy precepts, And have respect unto thy ways. 16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
Lord help me to be this guy! Praying for you also brothers and sisters!!

Jesus spent time with tax collectors and other sinners. He was criticized for doing so.
But those who well (perhaps said sarcastically) obviously did not need Him. He came to call sinners to repentance, which included spending time with them.
An amazing thought: Rom.8:26-27 ESV)
26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
Let the Holy Spirit help you pray!

Remember even Paul had to put his body under submission.
Every time you succeed in telling your body no, you get stronger. It does help to focus on God instead of the temptation. I am glad you were able to do that! That is a huge win! Now to regroup and get back in the battle. You can do this.

Joshua 1:8-9 CSB This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do. [9] Haven't I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
Psalm 1:2-3 CSB Instead, his delight is in the LORD's instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. [3] He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Wonderful verses! Thanks for encouraging me in the Lord! My men's group at a local church is pretty much down to 2, sometimes 3 of us guys. We have been through all the books, some twice. It started from the "Faithful and True" ministry for sexual addiction. When Celebrate Recovery started this group died expect for us. It's nice to have a face to face talk with someone but there has to be Biblical encouragement and direction. We are down to sharing our ups and downs, talking a bit then praying and leaving. Unless we are reading a Christian book on this subject we are not sharing much scripture anymore. It's more or less a confessional booth.
I love your encouragement from the Scriptures!! Thanks again.

The book I'm reading, When the Enemy Strikes, by Charles Stanley, would give you lots of fuel for discussion! Of particular value is the section on the believers armor, from Eph. ch 6, but the whole book is great for helping us see through Satan's lies.

I'm sorry, my friend. I can't preach; I've given in so, so often. Run back to Jesus. Be in worship tomorrow. Let Him speak His word to your heart. He came to bind up the brokenhearted. Take those opening words of Isaiah 61 (verses 1-3)and realize Jesus fulfills that... for you.

Pick yourself up and get back in the fight. Remember we win because Christ already won for us.

Having a hard time getting back in the race. Last two days was a repeat. Ton of articles here www.desiringgod.org Although I don't agree with some of John Piper's doctrines his website has a ton of articles written by different authors on porn and Christians issues with it. And I do mean a ton. What does that tell us?

It tells me that Satan is getting to a lot of Christians to keep them from their freedom and to keep them ineffective in doing what Christ wants them to do. This is a spiritual war. By keeping us weak and ineffective he thinks he can win. Laughs on him though because our weaknesses is what Christ uses to shine and when He shines we become strong!

Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas! Thank you Lord for your unspeakable gift!
I keep a journal of this battle. This past year has not been good. Sense my last post I had four more incidents of "p&m". Discouraged. Anxiety starting to creep back in. Other issues trying to creep back in also. I confess everything to God and thank Him for His gift in Christ. Discipline and saying no to myself has been a problem from youth. God has been patient and merciful.
I want this next year to be Christ honoring and victorious in the power of the Lord!
