Been lazy about posting lately. Have been avoiding porn. Believe I had 1 incident of “M” due to lustful fantasies. Still struggling or not struggling enough with wandering eyes in public. And keeping my thoughts in check. Need to stop surfing through cable channels on my media box. Sometimes nudity or sex scenes appear and I just move on. So far dodging that bullet but see my foolishness in tempting my flesh. But God is good and faithful!!

Hey JJ, good on you for avoiding it! Yeah I know how it is channel surfing. Have spent hours, days, weeks, years surfing through movies or other shows, intentionally/accidentally seeing things I shouldn't see. Nowadays my rule is no fictional movies at all (true life movies not so bad but still not great). My addictive history just can't handle it. Reading the Bible every morning (I only read one page, but it helps) is a great strengthener for the day's challenges as well. God bless you bro!

Thanks! SBG, Amy and Will! I was reading a Bible plan from the Bible app called "Reset Your Mind: Overhauling Toxic Thoughts". One suggestion was to do a 21 day fast from the main thing in your life feeding these thoughts. So I am going to do it with that media box that I channel surf on. I am doing better about spending some time in the Word each day. I keep short accounts with the Lord. I just had a couple of days where "M" was a problem again. My mind was going in some bad places and I was starting to think of porn. I try to rationalize that falling into "M" without porn is better than "M" with porn. Finding out as always that is a lie. God is more concerned with my heart and mind cause that is where all things come out of in my life. Clean and pure mind = Clean and pure life.
16 So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding? 17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.” Matthew 15:16-20 NKJV

Yes, good move. After the 21 days you should be able to think clearly and make a good decision. The media, totally apart from porn, seems totally against anything remotely Christian.  |

Hey JJ, how is your walk going? Any news on your 21 day media fast? I know it's hard. For me I have to make sure that I fill the void with something of Jesus Christ, otherwise it's almost impossible to not get drawn back in. Like today is Saturday, the most difficult day for me, that the enemy always attacks. But I have made my list of stuff to do. Many things are media-based, just not 'bad' media or media that I can't control that can throw curve-balls at me that am not expecting. I'm checking up on this board, watching Christian docos (just watched one on the Amish - wow didn't know they don't baptize by immersion, that sucks!) and have steak in the fridge for dinner that I'm about to cook and eat. Later there's a DKF sermon I want to listen to. Fill your life with Godly preoccupations (don't even have to be that godly - catching up with the highlights from the weekends NRL games is also a priority!!) and it helps keep the enemy away.

Looks like a good message! I listened to just the first part.... The NLT translation does a good job of translating that passasge.
Sinning as a lifestyle vs walking with Christ as a lifestyle. And so John honestly tells us that we cannot claim we have no sin.... we confess and repent and get up and go again.
BUT.... and if I had listened long enough I might have gotten to this.....It's high time for ME to rise above the up and down experience... to grow in my faith in the power of God to deliver me. And of course, there are plenty of other areas of my life that need work too!

I hear ya SBG. I like this preacher cause he is always comparing scripture with scripture. He is more of a teacher preacher.
