"By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit." -1 John 4:13
3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. -John 15:3-5, both from ESV
"Abiding" walking in sweet fellowship with Christ, walking in obedience to His Word.... makes us ready for God to use us! As weak as we are. shown by the fact that we're in a site like this one, God wants to fill us and make us strong.

Posting here almost every day is no magic potion for me; obviously I have fallen flat on my face even since coming here. But.... it is a tool in my tool box. A reminder that I only have this one day that I have to deal with now.
In Psalm 73, the Psalmist comes to a time of weakness and discouragement (v.2)
He finds that coming into the presence of God gave him a new perspective....
"Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds."
vv 23-28 from the NIV

Yesterday was far from perfect, but I am counting it as a positive day because of lessons learned.
It was also the National Day of Prayer (USA). I felt the effect of people's prayers as they prayed for our nation and for spiritual revival.

Hi Savedbygrace, am enjoying your Bible verses!
" 3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. -John 15:3-5"
I love this! So true, really shows so clearly the main message of salvation from sin: that we don't do it by getting away from sin, but by getting closer to Jesus, and His presence achieves it for us. Praise God!

Amen!
Monday... Scriptures to encourage me:
"But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints."
"For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partners with them; for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true)"
-Ephesians 5:3,5-9 (ESV)
A warning, yes, but also strong encouragement -- WHO I AM! Once I was darkness, now I am light in the Lord! I WILL WALK AS A CHILD OF LIGHT TODAY.

Again -
2 Timothy 1:7 King James Version (KJV) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
GOD can handle my fears and give me peace. I just need to walk with Him.

"What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee" Psalm 56:3
But this was DL Moody's favourite verse:
Isaiah 12:2 "Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust and not be afraid..."

Another new day!
Deuteronomy 20:1-4 King James Version (KJV)
When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people, And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them; For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

Romans 8:13 English Standard Version (ESV) For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Which part is my part and which part is God's? Notice how the two blend together here! I am the one who must do it, but I am too weak to do it. I can only do it BY THE SPIRIT.

Busy day! A very good thing!
Psalm 3:1-4 (ESV)
O LORD, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; many are saying of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah
With God, and God alone, I am coming out of this terrible cycle. This about today, not my worries over tomorrow!

1 John 4:1 New King James Version (NKJV) Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
When we are being drawn into sin, there is a spirit taking over our minds and pulling us that way, whether literally an evil spirit or simply an attitude or mindset of our own... doesn't matter. It is a lying spirit. We must cry out to God to strengthen us by HIS Spirit.
James 1:14 New King James Version (NKJV) But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
James 4:7 New King James Version (NKJV) Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Remembering Who I belong to, and Who it is who is with me every moment......
Hebrews 13:20-21 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus—the great Shepherd of the sheep—with the blood of the everlasting covenant, equip you with all that is good to do His will, working in us what is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ. Glory belongs to Him forever and ever. Amen.

I will make no progress at all until I deal with both addictions. My caffeine addiction fuels the relapses to porn.
Nothing wrong with caffeine for most people, but in my case, I can't handle the depression after the pick-me-up. Oh, I can handle it for a week or two, but then it all piles up on me and I get in a state of total exhaustion.
It won't be a magic bullet; I still need my daily Scriptures. But it will be a; vital tool in my box.

William, I am a recoverying sex addict, Christ has given me 1year and 9 months of sobriety. I did not know I was saved or not. I wanted to share with you 2 Chrinthians where God can raise the dead. If you are still acting out sexually, this might indicate that you have a dead spirit and not a born again one and therefore do not belong the the Lord. Jesus warns in Matthew 7:21 that many will say Lord Lord but Jesus will tell them depart from me, I never knew you. Could this be you? Could it be me? Of course, it can, that is why we are called to examine ourselves. How bad to you want to stop looking at porn? Jesus said, If a man lusts at a women, he has already committed adultery in his heart and it would be better to cut off the hands and gouge out the eye than for your whole body to be sent to hell. Jesus said that. Examine if you truly want to obey Jesus and if not, repent and Jesus to show Himself to you. He made me alive and that is why I can speak this way. May God bless you with repentance and faith. Dominic
