Hi everyone, I may as well start here with Accountability.
Today is Day 2 for me, and yesterday I was strongly reminded of the need to determine to walk with God THIS ONE DAY. Sadly, when I enter that zone of temptation, I succumb to the lie that it's way too strong for me, and that I might as well give in.
Colossians 3:1-6 was my challenge that day....
Put On the New Self
1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. 5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you:sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming.

Today, my daily reading schedule led me to Psalm 32. Powerful!!!! Speaks directly to my need!

No Jesus - No Peace
When I step out of fellowship with my Savior, I lose my peace. I step back into bondage again.
But we must remember: it's not a sin to be tempted! We must not let Satan fill us with guilt because of this, and use it to pull us down. We must hold on to Jesus and claim the peace that is rightfully ours. He will bring us through! Heb. 2:18

Welcome to BG saved. You are on a learning journey that is filled with battles. You have to stay close to Christ to win. It seems that you have already learned that. Don't get too discouraged when you stumble. We all stumble in the early stages. Learn from your mistakes, apologise, pick yourself up and continue your walk with Christ.

Of course, there will be some days when I don't make it here to post, but this is called accountability, so I will try. Two good days behind me. and of course, I could say, That's not much, let's see how I do after 2 or 3 weeks.
BUT Jesus thinks they are important! EVERY start I have made with him is valuable in his eyes!
In this little statement, I think Jesus is also showing us what God's heart is like:
Luke 17:3-4 ESV "Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, 'I repent,' you must forgive him."
So I think God's heart is like that too.... NOT to excuse our sin, but that we can know he is there to pick us up when we fall.
God's will is that I NEVER go back, and he is there to help me do that. He told the woman in John 8, Neither do I condemn you; go, and sin no more.

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death. (Proverbs 14:27 ESV)
The good kind of fear!
Also... Psalm 34 - all of it! Wonderful source of strength!

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand."

Doing OK, thanks to God. I need to cut back on my caffeine.
2 Timothy 2:21 ESV:
Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

Go slow on giving up the caffeine. Major headaches ensue otherwise.

The voice I hear in the sanctuary - in church - is the one that I must believe, not the evil voices when I am in the "zone" of temptation.
Exodus 6:1-9 shows how the children of Israel did not believe God's promise because of their great suffering, yet that very promise was given to be their hope and source of strength!
But the LORD said to Moses, "Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for with a strong hand he will send them out, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land." 2 God spoke to Moses and said to him, "I am the LORD. 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them. 4 I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they lived as sojourners. 5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the people of Israel whom the Egyptians hold as slaves, and I have remembered my covenant. 6 Say therefore to the people of Israel, 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment. 7 I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I will give it to you for a possession. I am the LORD.'" 9 Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit and harsh slavery.

odb.org - Today's article reminds me that God does not necessarily tell me ahead of time how He will provide for tomorrow. TODAY'S provision is here for me. All the reminders of my past failures, the seeming hopelessness of my situation, blah - blah - blah.... are just so much noise. God is with me today.

It's difficult not to let the noise in. I get so bogged down in it more often than not. I think God uses it to teach me...just wish I would learn it faster. Sometimes I feel like I am so stiff-necked that I can't move my head...lol

My daily reading took me to Proverbs. Some of my encouragement for this day: chapter 3:5-8 from the NLT--
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. 7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil. 8 Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.

Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life. -Proverbs 4:13 ESV Worried about my cycle of defeat. The pattern of lasting for one, two, or even three weeks without falling, then flat on my face again. Here's the thing. Today is a new day! I refuse to give Satan this day! Jesus is with me!

God's powerful deliverance of His people from bondage (ultimately fulfilled at the Cross) is typical of what He has done for me!
"And when in time to come your son asks you, 'What does this mean?' you shall say to him, 'By a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery." -Exodus 13:14 ESV

Eph. 6:10-13 (ESV) - Intro to the armor of God - being ready for battle -
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
