Haven't made the final decision yet, but it's looking like I'm going to have to shut these forums down.
For the past month I've spent a lot of hours with tech support with the sites ISP, the website developer, and now the forums software developers. After running multiple tests it's coming out that the forums software is somehow intermittently taking the whole site down every 3-4 days. Their tech support isn't helping... I don't have the time to keep chasing them... I need to focus on writing and other things.
Am very sorry... unless someone has some ideas I haven't thought of I may pull the plug around Tuesday of next week.

This is hard to hear, mike. I wish there was something I could do to help. Perhaps starting with a whole new site altogether, BG2, would be easier to deal with than keeping the old site going.
I know that you've put a tremendous amount of resources into this. So I don't blame you if choose to end it. It just makes you sad. I can't imagine how this makes you feel. You've put so much of your self into this. I want to thank you for everything that you've done for us and for BG. It has changed and saved my life for the better. And that will never be forgotten.
Hey everyone, if BG has to end, I would like for us to reconsider alternative solutions. Some thoughts would be to meet up on other forums such as Throughttheflame.org or Christianforums.org.
Or we could start a private group on FB, or we could set up a new forum (which could be costly). Let me know what your ideas are. Thank you.

Mike, what forums software is being used? Is there a way to make the forums separate from the main site and just link to it?
What I was thinking might work is giving the forums it's own address ie blazinggraceforums.org and then just linking to it from your main site. Or trying a different forums software...there are several options in that area.

I'm sad to hear that b/c the forums help me a lot. What about switching back to the old tech?
But...I respect your decision Mike. Take care everyone.
Covenant Eyes has a blog to where they do an article and people can post. However, I kinda like the way this one is set up.
What about knocking off some of the older posts? I mean, you've got 10 years of posts on here, would that help it operate better?

It's Saturday morning as I write this and I'm working with tech support on the forums software... found 3 errors the software was generating... waiting to see what they come back with.
Actually, the suggestion Amy had of it being under the forum developer's server instead of Blazing Grace's is a valid one. So I'll look into that.
Having a second moderator and/or third would help too. Honestly, I don't have the emotional energy to spend when the occasional flareup or disagreement blows up here... if you guys could manage that without my involvement it would help. That doesn't mean that I won't show up from time to time, but I have a 3rd book I'm writing (a workbook for couples) among other things.
Since from your responses it looks like you'd like this to be around, I'll wait to hear from you before doing anything further.
If I was freed up from doing the tech and management end, I could even promote it more...

A 2nd or 3rd moderator would help me too. I've got SO much going on with my oldest, that I need help too. I might be scaling back just a bit on my time here for a while. I'll check in every once in a while, but her intensive therapy starts next week.

I PMed you on Facebook Mike. I have the time and would be more then willing to take this on so that you can concentrate more on your book. This forums has been such a blessing to all of us here that it would be a shame for it to be shut down. I know it's a small community but we have become friends and family through this site.

Mike, I am reminded of the story of Jethro in the bible. Jethro was Moses' father in law who told Moses to delegate his responsibilities to other capable men because the task was too great. As you can see there are many who are willing to provide assistance to you and this forum in whatever capacity you'd require. I truly believe that Miss Amy would make a wonderful moderator. I too would like to express my interest in becoming a moderator. This site has given me so much and I would love to be able to give back to it. It is my desire to see this site grow and there by moderators for both men and women's postings. Please let us know whatever you decide. I know that we will be blessed and God glorified in whatever you decide. May God grant you discernment and wisdom to make the right decisions.

Looks like we've got a couple of great candidates for moderators here. Amy and John would both have my support. Please let me know how I can help.
Lord, we ask that you help us find a way to keep this vital ministry going. We will have faith that you'll make this possible. Thank you, Lord. Praise your name. Amen

Okay... I think we got the technical issues worked out. As you see, Amy and Jonathan are now moderators. Thank you.

Thanks Mike! I know this has been a thorn in your side but you prevailed and Satan lost this battle. Praise God!

Amy, Mike, John, Thank you all so much for your efforts to keep this site alive. I was discussing with John that Setting Captives Free is gone, and he shared that Through the Flame was shutting down as well. Important ministries like BG are being challenged. Praise God that he used you to come together and move forward. Count on me passing the word to some of my PA contacts that BG will welcome newcomers. A special thanks to Amy for offering to be our administrator.

Thanks Kevin!
It would be great to see some new people make use of the forums. Thank you for helping.
