I am new to this site. I joined this site after signing off yet another internet porn site that I ordered a trial membership to. Two hours after logging on to the porn site I was ready to shut down the computer and quickly realized I had spent more time on the porn site than I did playing with my children who are in the other room watching a video. I don't exactly understand how I became this way, that I enjoy isolating myself in front of the computer while my family is elsewhere.
I was not abused as a child. I have had a normal, healthy sex life until about 8 years ago when my wife was given a lap top for work. She brought it home and after she went to bed I began to log on with her login information to just "check-out" porn on the web that I had heard so much about. Soon I started surfing on her computer every night, sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning.
After about a year of this, I realized that perhaps I should not continue to use my wife's work computer to surf porn. So I bought myself a Dell laptop with the largest screen available. Now, here I am 8 years later, still surfing on the web for porn having wasted, God only knows, how many hours of my life looking at images of naked women. I know this behavior has to stop, frankly, I have some doubts that I can do it, but perhaps that is the way it is for everyone when they first log in and begin the process of admitting there is a problem. I can say I know I have a problem. It is a major problem that I know only God can fix. Here begins the journey...

God Bless You,
You will find this website to be very helpful as you face your issues head on. We feel your pain, we feel the anguish and we feel your quest to overcome your addiction to porn. It can be done but YOU can't do it. The help you need comes from the Lord and through the encouragement of men like myself who fight this on a daily basis. I have come a long, long way in the Lord, but have to be mindful that Satan knows what buttons to push. In fact he will bring right to you if that's what it will take to pull you down. Praise God that you were lead to this site . Now stay with us for awhile:cool: Welcome aboard...now let's get to work:cool::cool:

Thanks for your response. It is great to know that there are other people out there battling this same beast and are actually there to help and encourage. My hope is that I can soon one day be in the position of helping others. I am on Day One of "sobriety". My daily prayer is that the Lord will drive this demon out of my life and out of my soul so I can again enjoy the relationships and joys of life that I have neglected/traded to sit in front of the computer surfing to find the next new image. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement as I was initially skeptical that there were others willing to help.

In Search, I appreciated reading your story. It sounds like you have strong resolve ... You're going to need it!
I seem to ask this to everyone in here, but: Is there anything I can do to help and/or encourage you? -Steve

Thanks for your response. So far so good. I feel different, but I know it is still early. Cannot get complacent. I now have a desire to log on to THIS website every night. However, I only do so when there are people in the room. Why when people are in the room? So that if I get tempted by the demon still lurking within, that I don't give in.
