Greetings everyone. I'm a 27 year old sex addict of about 15 years. I recently married in August thinking, hoping, and praying that the commitment to a beautiful wife would lead me to the right path. Boy was that wrong. In November my world came crashing down as my wife found out about my sex addiction.
I do know, however, that God loved me and had a plan for me. Believe it or not my wife's father is a recovering drug addict and alcoholic with more than 13 years clean. Immediatley upon hearing of my problem she turned to him and asked if he could help me. With his unbelievable support - I was after all the man who just cheated on his only daughter - I've been in recovery for almost three months now.
The temptations are still very hard but I know I can do it.

Welcome Growingfaith!
God always provides! Earlier this year the Lord took us out of a church where things were okay, but not just right that was a few miles away and through prayer and listening we found ourselves in a small church out in the Maryland suburbs that we just felt perfectly at home in and as it turned out a pastor that has been through this addiction of ours (and was still loved respected and trusted..the concept!) That's what led me to where I am now, I wouldn't have even attempted to get out of this addiction with out going there. Glad to to welcome you here! Please look around, there's lots to red and think about. there's plenty of support and prayer here too.
God Bless!

Welcome growingfaith, I am glad you found us. I am a 52 year old man who just admitted to my Men's Bible study group last night that I have been struggling with porn for 10 years. You can see more of my story in the previous introduction forum.
As for you, I encourage you to keep in touch with your virtual accountability partners. Please know that I am praying and pulling for you.
Above all, please remember one of Mike Genung's well known quotes: "In this battle over lust, isolation is death".
God Bless Rick

Growingfaith - I'm another one who's "been there, done that". Matter of fact, I had a high-up leader in our church tell me "everything will be fine when you get married". Psych! Not! I'm 53, and early in recovery... So, at 1/2 my age, *go for it*. And please, stay with it another day. and another... 27 is the perfect age to be free of this prison...

Wow! You are lucky to have a father in law who understands. He will be a great resource. I don't know the guy and if you will stress him out too much but if he wants to help he could be a great guy to call if you are tempted...call him before you do anything...but then again perhaps a sponsor would be better.
