Neither particularly cover recovery themes that are common on this forum, but man, they are just straightforward Christian books that are encouraging my soul.
1) Come Thirsty by Max Lucado.
2) In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day by Mark Batterson.
It's somewhat late and I'm not sure I would not do justice to describe how good both of these books have been for me. Has anyone else read either of these?

I live about ten Metro stops from Mark Batterson's church and coffeehouse. We sometimes go there on Saturday night service to get an extra shot in the arm before we go to our church on Sunday morning. He is not kidding and we have seen it, National Community Church is about 70 percent single twenty something Capital Hill types. It is a wonderful demographic for that area.
I have seen him preach from this book a few times and we saw next to him the first time we went there and didn't realize it was him (He still looks like he's 20 years old)
In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day is the book we are reading together right now as part of our devotions. We read our Bible and devotional passages and than read a book about a chapter each day out loud together before our prayer time each evening.
The is the second time for me and I admit I like it better this second time. There's been three or four quotes and comments and I know I will be going back and looking up.
I am enjoying the book and looking forward to his next book when it comes out. I do must make a disclaimer, I just read Dave Roever's SCARRED the other night in one sitting and everything else right now is kind of second seat as that book still sinks in. When it comes to reading that one out loud, I am not sure how I'm going to do it.
God Bless

I'm going to bring the Max Lucado book with me as I hike this afternoon to the top of Cowles Mountain (alt. 1,592 feet), the tallest peak in the city of San Diego.

They hibernate some, but any warm day can bring them out. I used to moutian bike in Mission Trails and I worked horses and cattle over in Lakeside and I am sure I have seen or heard a rattler about every month of the year.
Even without the book it's still a great place to hike.

Oh yeah, been there many times. I worked on a ranch up in the hills that were north east of Lindo Lake about four fives miles up a dirt road. No doubt full of houses now.I used to go by the lake every day on the way to the post office. Lots of good memories there. Art
