Hi! I'm a 23 year old Christian guy and college student in the midwest. I'm the top poster in the Every Mans Battle online forums.
I occasionaly viewed porn for 8 years as a teen. I made a promise to myself early on that if I couldn't break my habit on my own in 5 years, I would seek help from others no matter what. My deadline came and went, so I found a local Every Man's Battle weekly support group. They completely affirmed and accepted me. And with their help I put a filter on my computer and stopped looking at porn. (Although I still struggle with lesser things.)
I'm officially 2 years porn free. I've been studying the topic of male sexual addiction for the past 10 years, ever since I was a 12 yr old with a porn problem. So, I've learned a great deal about recovery, etc.
And, the website that summerizes everything I've ever learned about sexual addiction and recovery is: www.blazinggrace.org
I reccomend guys use the articles on that website like "map" to understand the battle of sexual addiction, where they are in it, what they need to do, and what God's plan is for their freedom.
I currently keep about 5-6 guys accountable on a long term basis. And, for the past year, I've helped about 3-5 new guys each week to start on the road to sexual purity (online in forums, chat, IM, email, and by phone).
Although I've been heavily involved in internet ministry on these issues for the past 6 months, I'm going to switch to having weekly phone group sessions with those I keep accountable. That way, we can start renewing our minds together instead of just confessing our sins, etc.
I will be reading the Every Mans Battle book, or At The Altar of Sexual Idolatry with them, in addition to www.porn-free.org 's devotional/small bible studies.
