The Holy Spirit's help to us.

Walk in the Spirit, means "regulate one's life" in the Spirit
Walk in the Spirit, means "conduct one's self" in the Spirit
Walk in the Spirit, means "pass one's life" in the Spirit. 


What do you mean "regulate"? 

The dictionary says that "regulate" means this 

• to bring under the control of law or constituted authority
• to bring order, method, or uniformity to
• to fix or adjust the time, amount, degree, or rate of

ok   so the picture is getting painted for us now. 

Walk in the Spirit is saying ....

Bring under the control of law or constituted authority, one's life, in the Spirit. 
Bring order, method, uniformity, one's life, in the Spirit
Fix or adjust the time, amount, degree, rate of, one's line, in the Spirt. 

Looking at different translations now. 

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. ' Galatians 5:16 KJV

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. ' Galatians 5:16 NIV

'But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts]. ' Galatians 5:16 Amplified Bible


Walk in the Spirit? What? I'm still confused. Let's look at the full verses to see the context. 



'For freedom Christ freed us. Stand fast therefore and do not be entangled again with the yoke of bondage.' Galatians 5:1 MEV

Jesus Christ is the One who can set you and me free. Remember "If the Son has set you free, then you are free indeed?"

Therefore if the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36 MEV




'For freedom Christ freed us' so Jesus Christ wants us to be free, not enslaved back to sins and bondage to sins. 

Jesus said this. 

'Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. ' John 8:34 MEV

If you commit lust in your heart to a person, you are committing yourself to be a slave of sin. This is why masturbation is something God hates. What? God hates it? yes, God does. Jesus said this. 


'He answered, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’ ? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man put asunder.”'

Matthew 19:4-6


God made them male and female and a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh. They are not two, but one flesh. So, since God joins a man and women together, let no man put asunder (break apart / separate)

Masturbation is sex with self, not sex with the married spouse. A man leaves his father and mother to be joined to his wife, not anything or not anyone else. Not joining his mind and spirit to lust after a women he sees on the internet/magazine/real life, not joining self with self. A man is not married to his hand and not joined to his hand, not joined in spirit to a prostitute, but joined to his wife. 

you know what God wants you to do? 

'And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. '

Matthew 5:30


This is clear that if our hands (in this case, masturbation) make us sin, it will lead us to hell, which is why it's more profitable to stop sinning, or else, God will punish us. 

do you mean God will send me to hell for masturbation? How do you understand the scripture we just read? It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

So Jesus will send me to hell? for just lusting after a women, and masturbation? 

We have to agree that masturbation is simply not orgasm. Orgasm is rightly blessed in marriage, not outside of it. God is not sending people to hell for orgasms, but for their heart desiring someone else who is not their God-given spouse, and wanting to know that other person sexually, and marrying his spirit to that other person, in spiritual and sexual adultery. 

Do you think God really intended you and I to have our spouses, when to secretly also want to see other spouses and peoples' nakedness and want to know them in sexual ways? Why would God say that is OK, when He already gave you and I a spouse? It's illogical to say "God, thank you for my wife, and also for letting me "enjoy the beauty of other women". No, that is not what God said. 


God said 

“Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’ ? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man put asunder.

So what God has joined together (you and your wife/me and my wife), let no man (including ourselves) put asunder (separate from our spouses). Masturbation puts asunder it tears us mentally, emotionally, spiritually away, therefore tearing apart our marriage relationship. It should not take a broken wife to say this because God already has told us. Now if our wives are crushed because of our sins, it's our fault, because we tore asunder what God has put together through masturbation and all other kinds of sexual immorality. 


Back to the original verse. 

walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

How do I "walk in the Spirit"? What does this even mean? If God is Spirit, and I am human, how can I a physical person walk with a Spirit One? Surely, there is some easy way to understand this. I'm confused still. 

'Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ' Galatians 5:24 MEV

The ones who can walk in the Spirit, are those who belong to Christ Jesus, who have crucified the flesh with it's passions and desires. 

The passion and desire to lust must be crucified 
The passion and desire to lust have been crucified, if you belong to Jesus Christ. 


Do you realize that you belong to Jesus Christ?
Do I realize that?

We belong to Jesus Christ. 



'What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may increase? God forbid! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Do you not know that we who were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with Him in the likeness of His death, so shall we also be united with Him in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with Him, so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we should no longer be slaves to sin. If you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ that Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, the Son of God, has died personally for all of your sins, was buried then rose again on the 3rd day. You trust Jesus did that for you, you have called on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ....God has saved you, You are His and You are now dead to sin, and alive to God. 

We now have recognize this. 

Likewise, you also consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God through Jesus Christ our Lord

You are dead now
You are alive now 

Do you remember when Jesus and Satan battled in the desert? Matthew 4? Jesus told Satan


'But He answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’ ”' Matthew 4:4


that is the Sword of the Spirit, the promise of God, we stand on, we memorize, we tell it back to the enemy, that lying snake. 

'For the word of God is alive, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intents of the heart. There is no creature that is not revealed in His sight, for all things are bare and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.'

You and I have been given the Holy Spirit, as becoming children of God now, we can also use the Word of God, as our Lord did, in our desert, to tell the Devil, "Get out of here Satan for it is written "man shall not live on bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God"

but you still got a thought lingering? Keep quoting the scriptures, run like Joseph, get into prayer, focus all your energy on the Lord Jesus, close the laptop/phone/internet, get out now, you will be safe in God's hands now. 

Masturbation is not some small thing. It's not just a physical act, it's a spiritual connection to the darkside, we opened a door for Satan and his demons to enter in and ruin our lifes, our marriages, our familys, just because the 'forbidden fruit' tempted us. 

Do you remember what the forbidden fruit did to Eve?

'When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasing to the eyes and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she gave to her husband with her, and he ate. ' Genesis 3:6

• desirable to make one wise

how did Satan lie?

'Then the serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! For God knows that on the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”' Genesis 3:4-5 MEV

• lie 1 - God knows your eyes will be opened
• lie 2 - you will be like God
• lie 3 - you will know good and evil

Dear Jesus, please help us to stop masturbating and lusting and to love our wives. If we are not married yet, please help us to wait and seek what You want. Lord, please bring a godly wife to the single brothers and please bring a godly man to the single ladies. Please Lord, help us to restore our marriages and help us to know You more. Who are You Lord? How great You are. Please make us new again. Please forgive us of our adulteries. Please help us to remember what Your Word says. In Jesus' name. Amen.
