Hi guys,
have just been watching this 6 part doco about the Amish. It was a huge blessing to me:
Really seems like they have it all right when it comes to marriage, dating and sexuality. The English boys and girls who are staying with them more or less say as much when they are there - that they prefer the Amish way and it is better than the sexual free-for-all that is aggressively promoted in our culture.

I like this, Will. Thank you. I was wondering if you could help me with something. I don't have access to YouTube, but I can view YouTube videos that are embedded on BG or I can view them myself with the video ID using an embed code. It looks like the video ID belongs to the first of 6 series. Maybe I'm wrong. Would be possible to post here the remaining 5 video IDs so that I can watch them? Thanks. 🙂 |

I got to watch all of this. And I really liked it.
I think I understand the Amish better now. Their way of life is designed to remove any distractions from their primary purpose, to develop their relationship with God.
And the teenagers quickly saw the benefits of their lifestyle. Charlotte, the wild one, received Christ during the show. She embraced the value of dressing modestly. She felt eased from the pressure of looking good. Her and Hannah made decisions together to not have sex until marriage. They couldn't find a good reason among themselves to not wait. They both intrinsically desired to have a man love them for who they are, not for the sex that they offered.
And it also showed the challenges of being Amish. For if one doesn't follow the rules, that person is shunned. I personally see some Phariseism in this.
I also saw how quickly the teens were able to revert back to their same lifestyle. I was hoping they would hang on to more of the spiritual values they were shown. But I could tell that the distractions of the world continue to lead them astray.
