This verse God spoke to me recently.
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Proverbs 4:23

Yes, Proverbs has so much for us. We can walk in the way of Folly, or the way of Wisdom. The choice between a good life or a horrible end.
Proverbs 4:13-15 NLT:
Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go.
Guard them, for they are the key to life.
Don’t do as the wicked do,
and don’t follow the path of evildoers.
Don’t even think about it; don’t go that way.
Turn away and keep moving.

National Day of Prayer today (USA)
A good way to start is by praising God. I like Psalm 147....from ESV
1 Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. 2 The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. 3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 4 He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. 5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. 6 The LORD lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked to the ground. 7 Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make melody to our God on the lyre! 8 He covers the heavens with clouds; he prepares rain for the earth; he makes grass grow on the hills. 9 He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry. 10 His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, 11 but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. 12 Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! 13 For he strengthens the bars of your gates; he blesses your children within you. 14 He makes peace in your borders; he fills you with the finest of the wheat. 15 He sends out his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. 16 He gives snow like wool; he scatters hoarfrost like ashes. 17 He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs; who can stand before his cold? 18 He sends out his word, and melts them; he makes his wind blow and the waters flow. 19 He declares his word to Jacob, his statutes and rules to Israel. 20 He has not dealt thus with any other nation; they do not know his rules. Praise the LORD!

Praying for us all. God knows the need of each of our hearts.
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." --1 Peter 2:9 ESV
1 Peter 2:9 New Living Translation (NLT) But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

Sometimes we just go through difficult periods, where we need to hold on and keep trusting. Turning aside to sin at such a time is the way of the fool, according to Proverbs.
The sons of Korah wrote this Psalm, describing the emotions we go through at such times, and affirming our holding on and trusting God to bring us safely through. This is Psalm 42 in the NIV......
1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? 3 My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” 4 These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty Onewith shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng. 5 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. 6 My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar. 7 Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. 8 By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life. 9 I say to God my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?” 10 My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, “Where is your God?” 11 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Psalm 136:23-26 ESV)
It is he who remembered us in our low estate, for his steadfast love endures forever; and rescued us from our foes, for his steadfast love endures forever; he who gives food to all flesh, for his steadfast love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.

odb.org/2020/05/12/open-arms-3 Our Daily Bread for today We are a community where we help each other. "Everybody was responsible for everybody." In 2 Sam. 22 and Psalm 18, we have essentially the same thing. Must be super-important if God gave it to us twice! David found God to be his refuge and source of power against overwhelming enemies and hatred!!!!! 2 Samuel 22:31-35 KJV 31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. 32 For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God? 33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. 34 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places. 35 He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

When will we learn that our feelings are lies? We can not trust them or rely on them. We can only rely on the Holy Spirit and the Word as our truth. I just got done realizing how false our feelings and emotions are. I too have been driven by them my entire life. Now I have to turn my back on them and only believe the Word and the Holy Spirit. I have to say no to them and call them the liars they are. I have to die to myself and only let Christ live through me. Being a woman, I have emotional upheaval for part of the month...bring it Satan because you lose and my Jesus wins! It has taken me a long time to see this too Amy. I would look for a feeling to verify my faith. It about drove me nuts. God after much patience and many years delivered me from this. Faith is knowing my God is always faithful and will always keep His word..no matter how I feel. I still have to watch that weakness and when it pops up I say no. Same with love. Love is not a feeling it is a action. But when the feeling comes because of active love that is a bonus! God Bless you SBG, Amy, and Dominic and All!!

There is so much to unpack on the subject of love...Godly love vs Human love. Boy that would be a good topic for discussion.

The unnamed Psalmist who wrote Psa. 43 struggled with it too! When God seems slow to answer (from our human perspective), we must hold onto our faith..... At the end, he writes,
3 Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. 4 Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God. 5 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Galatians 5:25 ESV
"If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit."
Step by step. Not my worries for the future, or even the rest of this day. Step by step. He is my comforter and my guide. My source of strength. Step by step.

The importance of our prayers for one another.......
2 Corinthians 1:8-11 English Standard Version (ESV)
For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.

Due to lack of money, I'm reading this book free, using the Libby app. It connects with my library and lets me put the book on my phone or Kindle. Anyway..... this book is a life changer: The Case for Grace, by Lee Strobel. Not a book of teaching, but from real life.
What is the difference between being forgiven, and being adopted? The difference is HUGE. J.I. Packer makes the point, and Lee Strobel gives examples from real life to help us grasp what it means.

Psalm 46:6-7 English Standard Version (ESV)
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
Please pray for me. Thanks!
