Because of my inability to break out of my cycle, it can seem pointless to write much in between those bad times.
But that would be stupid. God is at work in my life. This whole thing is not too difficult for God. And God has not forgotten about me; he deeply cares for me!
Day 5 in progress!

In Psalm 44, and also the whole book of Job, we see a call to waiting a long, long, long time for God to answer. In Job's case, he learned some priceless things about God.
In Psalm 44, the answer seems to be to keep on praying and never giving up.
I am guilty of wanting everything to be instant. I need to learn to wait upon the Lord.

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1 ESV
"God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble." same, from the NLT
I desperately need to learn to wait upon God!!!!!

I like this verse because when I was scared adn going to take one of my children to the doctors like when they were 4 or something, I pulled to a red light, grabbed my little pocket bible and just opened it, and it went to this Psalms. The light turned to green, but I had memorized this verse and made a song with it, just a random tune to get my brain to focus on this verse, because I was scared for my child, who was sick with fever at the time. Fast forward to years later, now, God has proven that He really was our help. We got a diagnosis (good), we got medicine (good, thank you Jesus), we got safely home (thank you Jesus), we, I mean, my child recovered, (thank you Jesus). I really worry when my children get sick. I have OCD and am a germaphobe which means, I am scared of germs a lot, more than average people I guess. I know it's another character defect (sin) that I have to deal with daily. Today, my wife and I went to a restaurant and we have to check our temperature. I was 36.5C but she was 37.1C and I was like "are you feeling OK?" and "are you sick?" and "are you sure?" so it have to remember these verses because they are true.

Encouragement: Many times we know our triggers. The question is, do we have a game plan and I think someone posted about that in your accountability feed earlier in 2020. We can't fight the battle in the thick and then come up with a game plan. We should think of what those triggers are and ask God to help give us the tools to connect and turn to him. For me it was looking in the eyes of the woman and saying a prayer to God 'what a beautiful daughter of yours God and I acknowledge she is yours.' This changed my mind to connect to God immediately and changed my focus. There are other turn and connect tools out there but there are also times we can avoid situations. Praying to God asking the holy spirit to give you the tools and the power. I struggled with visualization and when I practiced this it became easier to avoid and defeat the enemy. Our mind wants to be satisfied and when our spirit challenges it the mind avoids. God has given us authority over our mind and we need to train our mind and have a game plan before going into battle. I encouraged another gentlemen about the revolving door of sexual sin in our group. When I almost died is when I gave up and made a choice. A choice to not handle it by my power but by God's as I was weak and broken. I became exhausted and was heavy. My mind was twisted and derailed from God and I knew it but didn't know where to start. Crying out to him and saying Lord I give up. Make me a clean heart and I'll do it your way not mine. I will seek your will and follow you wherever you take me. I will pray for you on your journey and I encourage you to join a group of men for accountability. Please visit jamesfivesixteen.com to register for a group near you or online.

"But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one."
(2 Thess. 3:3 ESV)
Temptation and physical exhaustion seem to be closely related. There is a call to slow down, relax, and remember promises like this one.

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe."
-Prov. 18:10 ESV
This idea of running into a tower for safety implies that I'll stay a while... as long as I feel threatened.
And I'll be safe there, until the danger has passed.
God's name stands for everything that He is; every promise He has made.

Knowing my desperate need, (and no doubt the needs of others too), the Lord led our pastor to preach a very strong sermon on Deut. 10:12-13 ---
1. Fear the Lord 2. Walk in His ways 3. Love Him 4. Serve Him 5. Keep His commandments
