We do have user here who goes by "Will." He has not posted lately. My action plan at present: continue caffeine reduction. Take part in Christian Purity Group. I will choose my user name there. Very specific Bible promises for me to claim: Psalm 25 - all of it. and Psalm 34. Psalm 32:5-11. Psalm 28:7. Today's Our Daily Bread: amazing timing!!! God's message to me. odb.org/2019/05/23/throwing-stones/And Facebook is a wonderful source of encouragement to me. Definitely God's gift. This is a good start. You need to add a few things like resisting temptations by going to God and having someone available to pray with when you are struggling. You don't mention your wife much. Would she be willing to be your prayer partner? You wouldn't need to go into detail with her. Just tell her you are having a difficult time and need prayer. I never went into detail with my prayer warriors. Also this is just an idea...how about writing or printing those scriptures out and taping them on or by your computer monitor. Speaking truth in the face of the lies of temptations is a good way to stop them. Keep fighting! You with Christ have this!

Thank you Amy; yes, those are very helpful. Asking for prayer doesn't have to be so specific... just having her pray with me. And she does know that I struggle with this. Writing a Scripture on a card for that day can help me stay focused. Cutting back caffeine: I need to be consistent. Others have a problem too or companies wouldn't have invented Decaf. For Dominic: Gal. 6:1 appears to be aimed at helping other believers. That seems to be the tone of it. Galatians 6:1 New International Version (NIV) 6 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. At any rate, I put my faith in Christ as a child, before I had any understanding of these things that would hit me as an adult. As a young person I often re-examined my faith to make sure it was real. So Jesus has not left me now. I dropped out of the Purity Group; I simply won't have time to keep up with it. Sometimes the Bible mentions accountability, sometimes it doesn't. Nor does it say how and when. Again, the spirit of Gal. 6:1 is the guiding principle. Concerning the Our Daily Bread article that was such a blessing to me this AM.... could have been just by chance, right? But on the other hand, is anything really by chance? I took it as being directly from God to me. And yes, it absolutely does call for repentance. But the accusers all slithered away! It was just Jesus and the lady. And His charge to her carried with it the power and authority to do it.

And His charge to her carried with it the power and authority to do it. You will always have the best accountability partner in the Holy Spirit. You can't hide anything from Him. It can be helpful to most to have human accountability partners. When I talk about my prayer warriors (Mom and sister), they were my accountability partners. I did not go into details with them. It was hard enough just admitting I was struggling, asking them to pray with me, and talking in generality about my difficulties in overcoming porn and sex addiction. Have you dealt with your history that led up to your issues with porn? I always hesitate to ask because the reception of this question isn't the best. I have found that many have issues stemming from something in their childhood and if this isn't dealt with, overcoming porn won't have the success you are wanting. You don't need to answer this. It's just something to think and pray about.

Hi Dominic, In my email address, you see Paul, and I don't know of another Paul here, so that one is good. I dropped out of the Purity Group because right now I seem to need a gentler approach. This does not mean I'm not serious; I am extremely serious about this. Thanks for your concern

Hello, the Bible says Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16 NKJV bible.com/bible/114/jas.5.16.NKJVSo telling the exact sin you did is Bublical. Jesus also said, And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” John 3:19-21 NKJV bible.com/bible/114/jhn.3.19-21.NKJVIt doesn't matter to say I struggle with lust as it is to say, i watched porn and masturbated. It i looked at some sick kind of porn. It will shock the listening person but the Bible says to do it. Go to the light. Get it all out. God already knows. You already knows but the person listening doesn't. And the Bible commands this not me. For example, when I visited massage parlors I had put my wife also at risk too and therefore my Pastor told me tell my wife and I did. God helped me do this. I heard much from secular groups like, you have to consult with a sponsor before you tell your wife, that is a lie. God says to tell your brother. God says to submit to the Lord Jesus. I, dominic, do not need to hear, oh, brother so and so did this gross sin, but I am willing to pray for you as the Bible says and in that God heals. As far as the Christian Purity Group, it doesn't matter if you left. That is only a tool to help us and disciple us. I know your posts here anyways. This site is public so users reading this can read it even without an account which makes me fear people are less likely to come out fully but hide because of fear of man. Who cares what they think and say. They will have to give an account for their sins. I just told you once of my past sins here. I am not bragging but telling you in order to show where the Lord has delivered me from and so you might know how to pray for me. In my posts, you can't see my face or hear my tone so it appears not gently but God knows my heart is to follow Him and help. I am not a good person.

Please tell me what is a gentler approach. If someone sins would you like the other brother to tell you? I am curious.

Thursday and Friday were very good days. Not sure what time period the last report covered. Today is a very good day. True, it's not over yet, but my "alone" time would really be now.
There are many examples of Jesus' approach sinners; each one very individualized.
For today's 3x5 card: 2 Chron 16:9a - "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him."
Galatians 6:1 New Living Translation (NLT) 6 Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.
The NLT is more of a paraphrase; however, they call it a translation because of their effort to convey the thought behind the literal.

In my posts, you can't see my face or hear my tone so it appears not gently but God knows my heart is to follow Him and help. I am not a good person. Going into detail with another human being isn't necessary. I still don't go into gory detail into how far down the rabbit hole I went with others. It is enough for me just to admit that I had this sin in my life and how God worked to free me from it. You are being overly legalistic. The Lord handles everyone differently. I think you need to realize this. Now if what you are engaging in could be harmful to your partner or spouse, then yes you need to tell them so they can be checked for diseases...as in your case. And if your partner or spouse asks for details, then you need to be open and forthcoming. But not all spouses want to know the details and only want the generalities because the details are too painful for them. This is a discussion you should have at the beginning of your journey of healing and overcoming.

I am aiming for holiness not legalistic. Also, in my case, she wanted to know how much so I told her. You might be different. Jesus did say to come to the light so that is how I understand that verse. Also, in secular groups, not that I enjoy quoting from the, but they also say, we are sick as our secrets.

Also Proverbs says "He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." Proverbs 28:13 NKJV
We have to be specific eith our sins not just I lusted. I want to be done with x,y,z and forsake that in the name of Jesus.
Also, when sin is pointed out in scripture it is always specific. The man in the new Testament was having a sexual relation with his father's wife. See? That is gentle plus exposed. A biblical example.
For Old Testsment, they passed their children through the fire. Not that they killed but specifically offered their children to false gods bu killing them through fire. This is specific sins. Not legalism.
I'm not angry at you but I have to make that point.

Hmm and who pointed out that sin and why was it pointed out? Context is important! The man was proud of his sin and the Church there was not doing anything to rebuke him. So the apostle Paul spoke out against it. Specifically he chastised the church for not rebuking the man more than speaking out against the man. You cannot take verses out of context. Confessing sin to our Savior and Mediator is different than to another human. Covering our sins is when you hide them. I don't know anyone here that is doing that. Either show some compassion and mercy or I will be forced to ban you from this forum for a time. I am tired of your judgemental attitude.

I am sorry you feel that way Amy. I have used scripture to state my points. I will not argue about it. Do what you must do. Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness. Titus 2:11-14. Peace. Not mad at you either.
Jesus also said, forgive your brother and if you don't neither will the Heavenly Father forgive your sins.
Peace.

Please forgive me for being nasty, judgmental, self-righteous and hypocritical. Please have a blessed day in the Lord.
