1 John 5:3-5 (ESV)
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
I can so easily think of God's commands as burdensome. Or too difficult. Satan's lie!! I must remember who I am in Christ!

It's discouraging because so little posting here. Even I am actually busy too.
And posting often is no magic bullet; I realize that.
Anyway, this does NOT mean I am giving up the fight... far from it!
1 Thessalonians 5:22-24 English Standard Version (ESV) Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.

It's still discouraging. It seems we could help each other more by posting more often.
This has been a good, and very busy day for me!
Lord's Day tomorrow!

I am sorry saved. I have been busy. The Lord is doing many things in my life right now. And I am unsure if I can share them on this site. I need to refresh my memory on the TOS and maybe email Mike.
Edit: I can't share what God has been doing. TOS prohibits it.
I do hope your busy is a productive busy and thst God is working mightly in you.

Praying for you, that God will bring you through this time. And thanks for your response.
With others, I'm sure it is the same.... very busy with their own issues.
Even my own life is quite full of responsibilities. But as an extremely weak Christian, I find coming here often a help.
God is my refuge and strength, my very present help in any and every difficulty. (my personalized translation of Psalm 46:1)

Monday - encouraged by today's Our Daily Bread -
So from the suggested Scripture, I just went on and read all of Romans chapter 6. Amazing how God can speak familiar truths to our hearts all over again!

This is Day 3.
Getting back up on my feet is a battle, as all of you well know.
This morning I prayed for wisdom, because God invites us to do so. God is answering my prayer; that's the only reason I didn't fall again today.
It's easy at such a time to wonder if I've used 1 John 1:9 too much. The only answer is to focus on the FACT of what God actually says there, including the verses around it:
1 John 1:7-2:2 New Living Translation (NLT)
"But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
"If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.
"My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the very truth of God, from His Word. And the whole 1st John letter is aimed at lifting us up and away from living in sin. But thanks be to God He mercifully picks us up when we confess to Him, and puts our feet on the path again, and helps us learn the lessons He has for us.
Going back to my effort to reduce and eliminate caffeine. (1 Cor 6:12)
Even tapering off has been something I haven't stayed with (Yes, I'm really that addicted.)
Nothing wrong with it for most people, of course, but when we get a high from something we also get a low. And despite my best efforts to convince myself otherwise, my strength in the low times is not enough.
Scripture tells us not to push something if we have inner doubts (Romans 14:22-23) So it's gotta go. PLUS I must still rest in all the promises of God for times of temptation.
The acting out 5 days ago was the choice to view porn. The highs and lows described above can happen with anything that affects our minds. Most people will say they are addicted to caffeine, LOL, and just deal with it and move on. In my case, I have to consider the fact that for me it's a doubtful thing as described in Romans 14:22-23.
From yesterday's worship time - a strong reminder of WHO GOD IS --
1 Chronicles 16:23-27 (ESV) 23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. 24 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! 25 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and he is to be feared above all gods. 26 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens. 27 Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his place.
Philippians 3:12-14 (ESV)
Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
In 1621 the Pilgrims had a 3 day time of thanking God after their harvest. Native Americans and Pilgrims together did this!!!!
Of course, the very fact that God had brought these Pilgrims safely thus far through all the hardships and dangers along the way, must have been very prominent in their minds as well.
We too..... have been through, and are still going through, a difficult and perilous journey! THANK YOU JESUS; YOU HAVE BROUGHT US THIS FAR BY GRACE.
