We have a family priest that has served us over the years who is loved by the majority of the church community. He's turning 72 soon and leaving the helm to a younger priest. We thought of hosting a farewell party before he goes into "monk" mode and I've already spoken with one of his close relatives to bring his family together on that surprise occasion. Personally, I'm not sure on what we should get him; I thought of one of those retirement awards piece of jewelry with his name etched on it. He's not really fond of worldly things but I'm also planning to gift him a photo frame of us together. Can I get some ideas?

If it were me, I would ask him what he would like as a gift. I am betting that he would probably rather that money be gifted to a charity in his name. Is there a charity that is close to his heart?

Yes, he volunteers to sing for a group of orphans every week. Yes, it makes a lot of sense but I really wish to get him a souvenir of some sort

Does he have a patron saint? Maybe a medal of that saint and have it engraved on the back. You could put that in with a note saying a donation was given in his name to his favorite charity. That way he would have a momento and a gift that keeps on giving.
