I have had the Cubs winning the World Series on my mind this entire day ... I can not quit wondering how differently life would be if we faced our "rain delays" in the same fashion that Jason Heyward did last night. I am very guilty of letting a storm stop me in my tracks, and sometimes, unfortunately, leading me towards the "give up" door.
Last night during the World Series game when the rain delay was called, I grumbled and complained. I was imagining this as detrimental to the Cubs. I did not see it as divine intervention!
Jason Heyward pulled the team together, while the Field Manager, Joe Maddon was checking the weather on his phone, and had a meeting. He told them all how awesome that they were, he loved them, that they couldn't let this get them down and that they were going to get back out there and continue to play their game. He told them to support one another and to fight for their brothers, lift them up and be positive.
What if? Just what if? When we all, as brothers and sisters, are faced with a rain delay in life, we lifted each other up, supported one another, loved one another, and fought for each other. If we were to do this, would we too, pull of an improbable victory?
This 17 minute rain delay turned out to be a blessing ... just maybe, that is what our storms and delays are ... a blessing.
I hope to keep last night's rain delay on my heart for a very long time. It really touched me and made me look at things a little differently today. I have struggled so deeply with this season that I am in with my husband but I can say that all day today I sang "Take me Out to the Ballgame" because I really can see that so many of the "rain delays" that I have experienced are really God's way of saying "Hey, Grace, I am God, not you".
I am going to be more conscience of lifting up my brothers and sisters during the storms and I am going to start seeing my "rain delays" as a temporary break ... a break in order for God to set everything in motion for a victory!
This will probably be the one and only World Series game that I ever remember ... but I will remember ... I will remember that sticking together, supporting, loving and staying positive will lead to a victory!
Love and Blessings to all
