Hey,
I have been reading an ebook called 'A Spiritual Guide to Battling Sex Addiction' and it basically says that even masturbating should be avoided if possible. I have been celibate for 16 months but I have not been able to stop masturbating. Was wondering what evry1's thoughts are on masturbation. Is it right or wrong?

I have read quite a bit on this topic. The bottomline as a Christian is we are not to lust which would include fantasy. I don't believe it's possible to mb without lust and fantasy. It also could be considered an idol and as with most addictions could progress to other sexual sins. The Bible says if we sow to the flesh we reap destruction.

My understanding of practicing celibacy is no s*xual gratification whatsoever, including MB which is s*x with myself.
For me, MB is only done with fantasies that come straight out of P. I can't imagine MB being a healthy behavior for me while I'm objectifying a women in my mind. That's my opinion.
In addition, I believe that God holds us accountable for our thoughts as well as our actions. But not everyone shares my point of view.
With that being said, it's much easier said than done. It took a lot more than just sheer willpower for me before I got to the point of surrendering to God my privilege to have an "O". That was a challenging process

By the way, wonderful news that you've been able to abstain from all of the other s*xual acting out behaviors. That's a great gift, and it shows some merit on your part. Nice work.

In my heart as a child, I always had to hide it and felt shameful for doing it even though no one ever too me about it. I felt it was wrong and the Bible talks about if your eye causes you to sin to pluck it out. I have never masterbated without lusting. It is wrong for me, my conscience tells me and I think you might already feel what God says too.
