Here is a different way to think about your overcoming journey. If you can't view the video, there is a transcript below it Pursue Christ

I would add - Pursue Christ, do all He requires and He Himself will give you freedom from P., M. and all known addictions in the world. Who concentrates on pursuing freedom from porn or other addictions they will do it untill their deathbed.

We need to obey God. I am growing in my relationship with God and He is changing me.So don't we need to continue to fight sin while we get to know God better?

I see your point treborkcub. It is true that we're called to flee fornication. As addicts, however, we take this to the extreme. We put fighting the sin before anything else, including our journey to pursue and know Christ.
And that leads to white knuckling. That is treating the symptoms; not the true disease.

Yes we should continue to fight the sin as we grow in our relationship with God. The thing is that we tend to do one or the other not both. Our journey to true freedom needs to include both. We cannot succeed without God and we cannot succeed with putting in the effort to resist and fight the sin we are addicted to.
