On another site, we used to keep track of our Sobriety and celebrate the milestones once achieved. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing something like that here? Perhaps we could give each other little crosses or something like that because we all have our own crosses to carry each day.

I was actually considering starting a 100 days challenge thread on this site. But I didn't know if there would be a whole lot of interest. What other ideas do you have?

I would be interested in a challenge. I think it promotes greater accountability.

Good ideas guys! Feel free to start a thread and John or I can sticky it. I will look into an awards option for the forums....I think I ran across one the last time I was looking at the admin panel.

Ok. Then I need everyone to pm me with their anniversary date and number of sober days. I'll put together the challenge. Amy can do the awards portion.

Guess I thought we would all start on same day regardless of how long we have been sober . Also wonder if we need to know each persons definition of sober? Thoughts?

That's a thought. I will look up the definition of sobriety and post that on the thread. I guess we just need to know who is willing to participate and what is the challenge going to be? Abstaining from? Doing something like a To-Do Recovery List? Guessing we need more input on all of this.

I went and looked up the definition of SOBRIETY and I'm not liking the overall picture of the word. Much of what it says revolves around drugs and alcohol. So...I looked up the definition of SELF-CONTROL. This is really what recovery from SA is all about... Developing a sense of self control in one's life. So I'd like to put together a weekly self control challenge based on a point system. You can keep track yourself and PM me the results at the end of the week and we will post them and them reward the top scores. A good friend of our has a system in place already and I thought we could adapt that system to fit our needs here. In closing I wanted to post something by Rick Warren on Self Control. A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls. Proverbs 25:28 (NLT)
People with self-control master their moods. They do not let their moods master them. Most of what gets done in the world is accomplished by people who do the right thing even when they don't feel like it: "A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls." (Proverbs 25:28, NLT)
People with self-control watch their words. They put their minds in gear before opening their mouths: "Be careful what you say and protect your life. A careless talker destroys himself." (Proverbs 13:3, TEV)
People with self-control restrain their reactions. How much can you take before you lose your cool? "If you are sensible, you will control your temper. When someone wrongs you, it is a great virtue to ignore it." (Proverbs 19:11, TEV)
People with self-control stick to their schedule. If you don't determine how you will spend your time, then others will decide for you: "Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil." (Ephesians 5:15-16, NIV)
People with self-control manage their money. They learn to live on less than what they make and they invest the difference. The value of a budget is that it tells your money where you want it to go rather than wondering where it went! "In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has." (Proverbs 21:20, NIV)
People with self-control maintain their health. That way they can accomplish more and enjoy their achievements: "Learn to appreciate and give dignity to your body ...." (1 Thessalonians 4:4, MSG)
In what areas do you need to develop for self-control? The disciplines you establish today will determine your success tomorrow.
But it takes more than just willpower for lasting self-control. It takes a power greater than yourself: "For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead, his Spirit fills us with power, love, and self-control." (2 Timothy 1:7, TEV)

I thought about that and I'm not sure where nor how to put it in. I want the challenge to focus on the positive side of self control, so let me think about it. Perhaps something like 24 hours without relapse or slips.

I am not finding an awards plugin that will work like you will need it to work. I may have to contact Mike about it. I am still looking.

if you wanted to list the number of days sober, I could add an option box that could be edited by you. It would show up in profiles and mini-profiles.
