One of our members "sc41ksg" asked a question about a book; Quote:Has anyone also read the article 'THE BIBLICAL TEACHING ON DIVORCE AND REMARRIAGE' by Dr. Leslie McFall.?
Dr. Leslie McFall research and writings goes against today's belief in Divorce and Remarriage. I will say one thing about this e-book, 587 pages, I took the time to down load. I have my work cut out for me. Some think this has nothing to do with our recovery and I beg to differ as anything that keeps us from repentance and gives us an excuse to ignore God's word is a sin in itself. Here is an except from the preface of the book: PREFACE "There are two things that characterize the Lord Jesus and should characterize all who have His spirit. They are love and forgiveness. As His life was being taken away He prayed, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” As Stephen was being stoned to death, he prayed, “Lord, do not lay to them this sin.” The sin in both cases was murder. Both were prepared to forgive their murderers. Is the sin of adultery greater than murder? Jesus commanded Peter to forgive seventy times seven. The truly born again Christian will forgive their murderer, love their enemy, and pray for their salvation. The unborn ‘Christian’ will behave like a man of the world and seek justice through the courts of this world. This work has been written as a guide for all of Christ’s true followers who have been hurt by some unseemly and distressing behavior by their partner. Jesus’ immediate response was, and is, to forgive the wrong and love the wrongdoer. He says to all who show remorse, “Go, and sin no more. Neither do I condemn you.” That is a hard example to follow, and many Christians turn their back on the idea of forgiveness and seek out counselors who will offer a more attractive solution, one that will punish the offender. If you cannot forgive, then you do not have the Spirit of Christ, and if you do not have the Spirit of Christ, you are not a Christian. If this is your position, then it is time to have a deeper look at what you thought a Christian was."
. THE BIBLICAL TEACHING ON DIVORCE AND REMARRIAGE . I can not speak for anyone else, but to the study of God's word and to seek what He will reveal in His word. Whether I like it or not, His word is law and a guide to my steps of life. My reasoning will come out in my accountability writings. I will post this and finish it a bit later. Virgil
One of the things that has bothered me for many years was my past actions when it came to my divorce from my first wife, living together with another women for over five years and then getting remarried a second time.
It is never easy for me to keep my thought's on tract as I try to tell about my life (I have a scattered way of thinking.)
David Pawson's talk on YouTube has been invaluable to my understanding even though I find it hard to swallow. Divorce and Remarriage.
One of the things I kept running into with my lust, porn and masturbation is the desire to find an OK for my actions. Sound strange? Trust me it's not. I've done it before. That's the deceptive nature of sin, to twist the truth to get it to fit your desires. Kind of like what it says in 2nd Timothy 4:3: 2Ti_4:3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. NIV
