In recently talking with another long time member, I came to realize that I am not prepared to counsel properly someone who struggles with same sex attraction. The very subject is one that I believe needs to be treated delicately. It frightens me to hear stories of mistreatment being handed out to individuals who are looking for a safe haven in which to share their struggles. I personally want Blazing Grace to be an avenue for those who truly wish to recover from sexual addiction in all forms. However I pose the question to myself and to the other current and future membership....Are we prepared to properly talk about this subject? Can we provide grace and still not jeopardize our faith and convictions?
For me I have much to learn and it scares me to think how little I know of this side of sexual addiction. Thankfully I will be relying on a trusted counselor by the name of Guy Hammond whose ministry deals directly with same sex attraction recovery. His ministry is Strength In Weakness. For now however I know that I need to be praying and doing my homework for I truly believe as some other members do that God is about to open many doors in this area and we need to be prepared.

We have to rely upon God and the Holy Spirit to help us minister to everyone which includes those that have same-sex attraction or are having bisexual attraction. Sometimes a gentle approach is needed sometimes a firm approach is needed. Each situation and person is different (even with you, depending on how the Spirit guides me, determines how I approach you) So stay prayed up and be reading your bible to recharge your batteries.
