Congratulations Steve. The gift of 6 months of sobriety is quite the milestone. And what's great about it is that you grew so much. You're faith increased. You didn't "white knuckle" it. Awesome.

You are wise to consider finding a church to attend. If I stop going to church, it will have a severe impact on both me and my family. And it's important to me to not just go to church, but to be part of the church. For instance, I seek out other men there. I get their phone numbers and I share my testimony. Some of them are my phone buddies. I can honestly say that I've got about a couple dozen guys watching my back. Last year, I didn't really have any friends. Big difference.

And yes if Hitler had of placed more faith in the decisions and strategies of his generals (as his opponent Stalin did) he could have one this war.  His Soldiers were the most elite of fighters e.g. the Waffen SS and the Wehmracht and were more than a match to any allied opposition.  Unfortunately Hitler had decided to introduce his major racial cleansing project throughout Eastern Europe and these elite soldiers were there to carry out his dirty work as well.  Yes if Hitler had stuck to basics and fought a war, leaving the civilian population alone he may very well have one that war.  Due to his cruelty he brought about the creation of the Partisan Army who were equally cruel and barbaric to their German counterparts.  And if he had listened to his Generals instead of being such a 'control freak' Germany might have stood a chance. 

That's really interesting about your great great grandparents.  They certainly lived in situations of a lot of danger but they must have lived very interesting lives.  I can picture their joy when they reached the United States.
Hitler and Stalin were as mad and evil as each other.  Note that God used a very malicious tyrant (Stalin) to bring an end to Hitler.  And Stalin was a man who certainly was immoral and did not play by the rules.  I think Hitler felt everyone would be like Churchill but even he had his limits when his country was bombed by this madman.
It defies belief to realise that Stalin turned a blind eye to the rape and pillaging going on in Berlin and even expressed his sympathy for his troops.  He felt that if they had travelled so far and been in so much conflict; they were entitled to a little 'fun' with the women from Berlin.
Imagine all these s#x - crazed men arriving on Berlin's door steps.  And we don't hear of a righteous Russian trying to stop them??
That's one thing I liked about the American soldiers.  They fought hard but they still had their principles.  With the Yanks, You would face a Court Martial for such an activity of mistreating a woman.
But you know it's all about legacy.  The Russians acted abysmally in Berlin and their Legacy has lived on - Berlin Wall, Pro-Separatist Russian Thugs shooting planes out of the Sky.  How would I feel as a Russian child knowing that my great grandfather was a Berlin rapist?  I think the S#xual Addiction there must have gone to a whole knew level considering the figures now state that they hurt 2000 000 women during the course of the war. The Russian Economy is now extremely weak (Their exchange rate is crippled).  Who wants to trade with them?  Their Legacy of thuggery lives on - No longer a Super Power!
