Hi Well, instead of giving into masturbation I decided to look for a group where I can reach out before I do anything that I will regret. So, for the past seven years I have struggled with an addiction to pornography and masturbation. My addiction began when I was around 21 or so. I met a group of friends from the college's Newman center. However, one of the first things they did was introduce to me the idea of masturbation. To feel I should fit in with them I started to give into masturbation. Ever since I have not been able to kick the addiction. However, through the years my addiction has decreased. I do love myself more than I did in the past. Unfortunately, the fantasies are still the same I am Roman Catholic and desire to continue to follow the Lord and go deeper in HIS LOVE!! Thanks for letting me share what I am going through! Peace Candice!!

Hi Candace -
Thanks for sharing and being honest; welcome to the forums.
I encourage you to keep coming back and letting us know how you're doing.
In your church do they speak about sexual issues much?

There are many speakers who have spoken on topic related to addiction. The Lord has brought forth many people who have shown me there is freedom after addiction!! I have seen freedom, and have let myself walk in the freedom of the Lord.
My biggest struggle is reaching out in times of cravings. Most of the time time I text, but I need to trust myself to reach out via phone, to change the mindset I feel at that moment.
So many people have shown me love.
I guess I am looking for an accountability partner: one who can perhaps pray with me over the phone!
Not having a good night...gave into cravings today!
I need to go back to school. Cravings are lot less when there is support around me!!!
God Bless!

Yes, there is definititely freedom available from the addiction.
You're right in that it's good to have someone to call and pray with. I emailed a woman I know to ask if she might be willing to be an accountability partner for you.
In the meantime, here's an article for winning the battle in the mind - www.blazinggrace.org/winning-the-war-in-the-mind/
We're not always able to get someone on the phone; in those moments we need to find a way to overcome, which this article provides.
