When you sit down in front of the computer and feel that strong urge it indulge yourself with porn what is it that makes you think twice and turn it off? is it biblical verses or promises? is it thoughts of family or having to confess to your accountability partner?I haven't yet found the thing that really makes me think "STOP". I'd be interested in what works for you.thanks Jono

For me, it's:
1. I don't want to ever go through that miserable shame hangover again.
2. I don't want to have to tell my wife, my acountability partners, or have to tell others who know me because of this ministry that I blew it. I'd have to do a long walk of shame if I messed up.
3. If I fell again, I don't know how long it would take to get back on my feet.
Honestly, when recovery was raw in the beginning I don't know if all this was enough because the pull was too great and I was too weak. I needed to do what I could to remove access to porn for awhile until I was strong enough to stand up and say no on my own. You might need to consider this.

Try getting rid of your computer. As the Lord stated, if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off... if your eye causes you to sin pluck it out." As one who has battled with porn, I do not have home online access. I do all my web research and emailing through a computer at the local library that has its screen open to view to all who are in the room. Thus I am never tempted to open up porn sites there because I would be reproved and shamed by the library staff.
There is a computer in our home but it is my wife's and she has her own secret password that prevents me or anyone else from using it. If we are truly sincere about beating this addiction, we should do what is necessary to avoid being drawn into it. And that should include saying goodbye to private computer usage. Would the drunkard find it easy to avoid consuming liquor when full bottles of booze are ready and waiting for consumption in an open cabinet? Breaking an addiction requires radical steps. The price of our deliverance should never be considered too great if it means we gain heaven through a walk of obedient faith.

"Try getting rid of your computer" I remember watching the movie Fireproof a view years ago and seeing the seen where Kurt Cameron destroys his hard drive and thinking that is really a great idea. Unfortunately with the technology of today it is not realistic. Most of us live our lives online. For a lot of us our lively hood is online. And not from a computer hard drive but from our cell phones, tablets etc. I have a PC in my house that rarely gets used. My kids have their tablets and my wife and I have our laptops. I can access porn on my cell phone. I can access porn on my tablet. I agree with the verse you referenced Matthew 5:30 "if your right hand causes you to sin cut it off" and applaud you for the steps you have taken and cutting off home access to your computer. Just saying in my world I can access porn anytime from my cell phone. Yes I could revert to the old flip phone without media access but this day and age just about everything we do is tied to our cell phones. ][size=
Not trying to be negative but the devil really has a foot hole on our media. You have to have a real commitment to devote all your devices to God or you have no chance.
