I'm clueless as to why God would considers masturbation a sin, especially if he denies someone a spouse? Are people who can't find a partner less loved by a just God?
I'm not sure such a God really cares about me or has the capacity to take care of my needs.
And I am not sure I should continue to be abstinent for reasons mentioned in my blog: faithbond777.wordpress.com

FB777,
Welcome!
I'm just some guy here, not any part of the management, but I'm one of the few people still around and posting, so I welcome you.
I can't speak for God, and wouldn't attempt to.
Speaking very much for myself, and not for God or Blazing Grace, I'd say that the people who find themselves seriously committing to sexual addiction recovery are people like me who have found that for them, compulsive sexual behaviors are taking over our lives and destroying us - separating us from God, from other people, and from ourselves. We may not be clear about that whole picture at the beginning, but we are clear that we need to stop, not because what we're doing is displeasing God or somebody else, but because it is ruining our lives.
Finding freedom from addictive behaviors is hard and scary work. It's not the work of a day or a week or a year. There is enormous hope; millions of people have found recovery from addictions of all sorts. People don't succeed, though, until they reach a point of desperation, until continuing as they are is no longer possible. Before that point, I'm not sure persuasion is possible; after that point, persuasion isn't necessary.
If you don't have a problem, but are living a life of peace and joy and serenity, carry on. If, at some future point, it becomes unbearable hell, as it did for some of us, then know that there is hope.
I know lots of people who drink alcohol in moderation and live perfectly happy lives. I also know people who are alcoholics and who had to quit altogether in order to live. When it comes to porn, I'm very much in the second camp. Others may be in the first camp, but I don't know about them or have a word for them.
Just how it seems to me, of course.
Welcome, in any case.
Tim M.

Welcome. I am sure my efforts to stop looking at porn are to please God. It's important for me to try to please God. The trouble is that I sometimes spend weeks or even months proving that I want to please myself. I then wake up out of that and realize I am destroying the good that God has put into me and ruining my life. That's apart from the many hours wasted that could have been spent asleep or doing something useful.
