Hi,
I work with young men and older men with sex addiction in the UK. I am alone in this journey with no one else in my county doing the same work ad I have a few situations that I need some help with. Please respond if you have the time!
Thanks

Tim,
Can you tell us your story a little more? I'm confused about who you are and what you're asking. Are you a recovering addict, a pastor, a clinical psychologist, what? How are you working with these folks?
I'm also confused about your sense of loneliness. I haven't tried to break the meeting list down by counties, but there are 44 UK face-to-face SAA meetings listed at saa-recovery.org, and nearly the whole population of the nation lives closer to a meeting than the 60-80 km I drive. I don't know how it works in the UK, but many of the clergy and psychologists I know here are working (with varying degrees of skill and effectiveness, of course) with parishioners or clients struggling with sexual addiction. So even if you live in the Western Isles or something and really don't have meetings nearby, surely somebody in your county must be doing what nearly every professional in mine is doing?
Help us out a little. I don't understand who you are, what you're asking, and why you're alone.

Hi,
I live in Carlisle, England. I am a Christian. My main work is discipling students, mainly men and men in their 20's and 30's. The closet SAA meeting for me is Glasgow, which is over 2 hours away by Car. With diesel over $9.00 a gallon, it is not feasible for me to drive over 220 miles for my questions. Any way. I am not a sex addict, I work with men who have sexual addiction issues, mainly porn and masturbation,. Some of the guys I work with have had some success, mostly not much success. I have had some training in this area and have overcome masturbation myself and have a clear understanding of the issues behind sexual addiction. But I was hoping to find other Christians with more experience than myself to coach me through some questions. This forum may not be the place for that to happen, I don't know. I mainly use Life Guide materials written by Mark Laaser. If someone wants to be open for me to ask questions, I would appreciate it. Thanks
Tim

Tim,
Ah, OK. Thanks for the clarification.
You win on remoteness. Looking at the list of SAA meetings, I'm stunned there's nothing in Newcastle or environs, but I expect that would be just as bad as Glasgow given the roads (and just as irrelevant to you personally, though it could be a source of contacts with insight).
This board is very quiet right now, so you're fishing in a pretty small pool. I'd be happy to listen, but I only know the ground as a recovering addict, not as a professional, and I'm not an evangelical Christian.
You could always post public questions, too, if you can do that without violating privacy of your clients. Perhaps someone will reply.
Best wishes, and thanks for reaching out!
