Ladies,
It's been quite some time since I posted. My husband's addiction and depression has been escalating. I have filed for divorce. We have a young son. I am afraid of my husband being alone with our son for the following reasons:
1. He is refusing to get help for the sexual addiction / manic depressive episodes
2. He is passive aggressive
3. He is living with another woman right now
4. Now that he doesn't have to hide his sexual addiction from me (physically acting out with other women, internet dating, porn) will he be open in front of our baby
5. He has been drinking a lot and when he was still at home, he would not come home for the night because he was drunk
I am trying to plead in the temporary orders and divorce decree that my husband undergo a psychiatric evaluation and have supervised visitation with our son, until he is healthy enough (mentally) to not emotionally damage our son. The problem is that I need to have really good justification before a judge will grant my wishes. I am completely amazed that a judge would not see the emtional abuse and neglect that would come from a sex addict with recurring depressive cycles??!!! Are there any articles/resources on the internet that describe the addict/manic behaviors and how they effect the children? I would very much appreciate anything.
Until then, I am praying for God's protection over my little boy and favor in the court.
May you all be blessed in Jesus Name!

Different states have different standards. I would press your attorney to explain the standard or threshold that must be met before supervised visits are ordered in your state and how to prove that your husband meets that standard. I really think your attorney should be the best source of advice in this area.
My best, DW

I think DW is probably right. A local counselor with expertise in sex addiction would also be a better source of persuasive information and testimony than anything you can find on the Net.
An addict's behavior definitely has impacts on the kids, I think. Good luck with this!
