Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! Strange I find this site two days before Christmas, but then again God chooses to reveal supports at strange times... Anyway, I posted in the women's forum as well (yes I am one of those unicorn female addicts), wanted to also post a short intro here as well. My name is Susan and I've struggled with sexual addiction/purity most of my life. Because of the difficulty in finding females out there who are working in recovery I am used to being in the company of recovering men, and the similarities in some of the addiction for both men and women are more than most would think. As much as I learn from the boys though I pray every day to find women like myself for accountability and possibly sponsorship. You can read more about me on the other board, but just know upfront two things. First I am VERY grateful for sites and forums such as this, and second, I can talk a good game at times. Not that I'm manipulative, but I can talk a smoke screen almost as a defense or denial of how I feel or what I'm going through. So if you read a post from me sounding like I'm really really good I'm probably not. It's going to be a long road this recovery but we are all in it together and I hope you are comfortable contacting me if you need support. God bless each of you in the upcoming year S

Welcome home, Susi! That was brave. You're not a unicorn. If you're willing to look at 12-step groups (and to recover, you have to be willing to do anything it takes), you will find that the SLAA online group is usually a pretty even mix of men and women. Usually, I think there are more women than men, and I have been in meetings where I was the only man. Lots of women there sponsor. Some are pretty serious Christians. Go to slaaonline.org to find out how to connect. Let me know if you have problems. In my area, there are also face-to-face SLAA meetings for women only. Check the meeting lists that SLAA, SAA, SA, and SCA have on line to see what's available near you. Just a thought, of course, but for me, these organizations are saving my life. A blessed Christmas, new year, and new life to you. Tim M.

Be encouraged, Susi. There are a lot more ladies who struggle with this than you think! Regarding the need for support, I'm curious what you're doing for support on that end. As a counselor myself, I see so many men struggling with joining groups and obtaining the necessary love, support and accountability from other men who are working their recovery. There has got to be groups for women too, I would think, but they might be even more rare than men's groups. Nevertheless, I'm telling you, with God on your side, He will make a way! Feel free to give an update if you like. (I haven't read your other posting. My time has been somewhat limited recently.) -Steve
