Our city just started a new S-Anon program. I have experience in 12 step recovery programs such as Alateen, AA, and NA, but I have never attended S-Anon until recently. I was excited about the group because I was looking for an outlet secondary to this website to work through my issues with this particular subject. I was also asked about helping out to get the program started from the ground up, since I did have previous 12 step experience. However, we have only had 2 weeks of meetings so far and I am feeling very discouraged. I feel like the outsider in the group and do not feel my suggestions for helping in the organizational process is being taken seriously, since I have no experience in S-Anon. I'm not so sure if I am more offended about the particulars of the building of this group or if I am upset at the fact I haven't gotten ANYTHING out of it in these last two weeks. There is no structure, so far, like there was in my Alateen, AA, and NA programs. I recently, today, actually, heard about a group called Heart to Heart. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with that particular program and if it was worth my time to try that avenue for help. I believe in 12 step programs, and I heard Heart to Heart does not necessarily work from that perspective. However, I believe I could possibly work the 12 steps in my own time, if I had an outlet and learning environment from another source that could help motivate me to continue recovery rather than giving up. If anyone could tell me anything about the Heart to Heart program or any other program they believe would be useful to me, I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.
