Good Morning! Yesterday, I fell. I have asked for forgiveness from the Lord and I ask for you all forgiveness also. I have also repented for my actions. However, I am more than determined by the grace of God, I am an overcomer! I am victorious! I could walk around and feel sorry for myself. I refuse too. I walk this journey one day at a time. So today, April 9, 2022, I walk in victory from the struggle. Please also pray for me. Is there anything that you've learned from this reset that would help prepare you for better results in the future? What led up to the acting out? Was there a breakdown of boundaries? I don't just relapse out of the blue. A series of behaviors always precedes it.

I don't just relapse out of the blue. A series of behaviors always precedes it. I am always trying to learn from the relapses. In this case, it was just thoughts and feelings. I am not aware of anything else. The thoughts come and I resist them but I get tired. I know I shouldn’t. I know I must stand in the power of the Lord. I must watch those thoughts and cast them down out of my mind. Thanks for responding.

Hello brother, here are some verses that help me. I hope they help you too.
My two cents: God wants us to "take very thought captive" this includes sexual fantasy, lusts of the heart, eyes, flesh. all of it.
My two cents: "come to their senses" < God wants us to do this, like the prodigal came to his senses, not stay intoxicated, lose our senses, falling into the trap of the devil, and now taken to do the Satanic will of Satan. This is what we are up against. We need God all the time, very deadly serious . Ask God to learn to hate your sin. I have to do it, I want to do it. It's right to do it. The Lord hates evil so his people must learn this and give his/her body to God as a living sacrifice.
My two cents: There is a false teaching and false teachers out there, because of who you listen to, your theology, your personal walk with God, If your walk with God is not becoming like Christ, if your walk is something more like the world, there is something wrong with our theology, and that means our beliefs about God, his holiness, his presence, and his love, and we need to seek God in the Word of God in prayer to find what God wants us to do, not what man wants us to do. Even what I'm typing too. I'm just like you too.
The mind and heart are connected. Our heart, what we desire inside the secret places of our heart. Do we want to enslave a women to meet our sexual needs? why? If so, our heart needs to change before our thoughts can. If we really want to abuse women like in the films/pics, (heart) but we try to bring thoughts captive (as the scripture says), like they say, we are bringing the cart before the horse (means this is oppstive) and this is why secular recovery never works for changing a heart, a born again heart, and new heart regenerated by God's Spirit. It's like putting a nice dress on a dog or a pig. We can spray prefume on a pig, put lipstick on it, but the nature is a pig, the pig must be converted (spiritual converted) into a child of God, then we identify as a child of God now, we reject all flesh, all sexual lusts, in the name of Jesus, we obey the Lord like when the Lord told Cain "sin lies at the door but you must master it" and like Paul, through the spirit of God told us in Romans 6 to "consider the old man dead"
If you are saved, you are dead according to the old man, and your spirit is alive.
Galatians 5:16
I like this verse
'“Truly I tell you,” he said, “unless you turn and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child — this one is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one child like this in my name welcomes me. ' Matthew 18:3-5 my.bible.com/bible/1713/MAT.18.3-5
and this one too
' “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to fall away — it would be better for him if a heavy millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of offenses. For offenses will inevitably come, but woe to that person by whom the offense comes. If your hand or your foot causes you to fall away, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or lame than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into the eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to fall away, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hellfire. ' Matthew 18:6-9 my.bible.com/bible/1713/MAT.18.6-9
now some might say "wow, dominic, you are awfully harsh when you quote verses on hell and judgment, that is not constructive to recovery, why are you not more 'graceful'.
My reply is.
My father warned me about immoral women when I was young. I also warn my chidren, 16, 14, and 9. I don't want them to follow my footsteps. I don't want to know they went to hell. I don't want to see anyone here go to hell. Yes, I do believe in a literal firey hell. Not like some say (other denominations?). Jesus spoke of hell and he told us to preach to each other like this. Matt 28. which is not going to be popular, but this kind of puts a perspective.
Now, I can hear critics say "well, didn't Jesus also talk about love too"
I would say "Yes, he did" too. Jesus knew the state of our hearts and gave the right message to the right people. I don't know the state of our hearts, so I am sharing this side of part of Jesus' teachings.
The love of God is this brother. John 3:16. Jesus died on the cross for your sins, my sins, all our sins, even the sins of the worst people. That is the good news. Ask yourself, is this love, worth leaving the old life of sins behind? you know the answer is yes, but we find a sinful nature at work in us and honestly sometimes our will WANTS to sin. That is what must be put to death and truth of God's holiness is very helpful in this part. Let me illustrate.
You know how some guys might joke in a locker room like "if I am ready, I can't stop or talk about blue balls?" sorry to be graphic. but there is a cure for blue balls that doesn't involve masturbation. What is that? Well, change your mind. "but I can't?" Yes, you can. Wanna know how, imagine a lion chasing you and wants to tear you to pieces (seeking those who he may devour the scripture says), and if you do that, your body has two responses, fight or flight (learned that at mental health), and you have to feel fear and run, and do it > run away.
It's not some 'imagination' training but a spiritual reality that demons are at work with our sinful sick perverted flesh (will/mind/heart) and you and I are NO match for Satan or his demons of lust. how many times have we 'tried' but failed, let's be honest, we need God, and we need to run.
Here is a biblical example of this point exactly.
'Now Joseph had been taken to Egypt. An Egyptian named Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh and the captain of the guards, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had brought him there. The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a successful man, serving in the household of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made everything he did successful, Joseph found favor with his master and became his personal attendant. Potiphar also put him in charge of his household and placed all that he owned under his authority. From the time that he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house because of Joseph. The Lord ’s blessing was on all that he owned, in his house and in his fields. He left all that he owned under Joseph’s authority; he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate. Now Joseph was well-built and handsome. After some time his master’s wife looked longingly at Joseph and said, “Sleep with me.” But he refused. “Look,” he said to his master’s wife, “with me here my master does not concern himself with anything in his house, and he has put all that he owns under my authority. No one in this house is greater than I am. He has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. So how could I do this immense evil, and how could I sin against God?” Although she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her. Now one day he went into the house to do his work, and none of the household servants were there. She grabbed him by his garment and said, “Sleep with me!” But leaving his garment in her hand, he escaped and ran outside. When she saw that he had left his garment with her and had run outside, she called her household servants. “Look,” she said to them, “my husband brought a Hebrew man to make fools of us. He came to me so he could sleep with me, and I screamed as loud as I could. When he heard me screaming for help, he left his garment beside me and ran outside.” She put Joseph’s garment beside her until his master came home. Then she told him the same story: “The Hebrew slave you brought to us came to make a fool of me, but when I screamed for help, he left his garment beside me and ran outside.” When his master heard the story his wife told him — “These are the things your slave did to me” — he was furious and had him thrown into prison, where the king’s prisoners were confined. So Joseph was there in prison. ' Genesis 39:1-20 my.bible.com/bible/1713/GEN.39.1-20
Imagine you are at work, your bosses wife, who is press you to have sex with her and one day physically grabs your clothes, honestly, how many guys would have ran like Joseph? I'm not someone who knows stats and I don't care but Joseph ran..... a handsome, well-built Joseph, who said.
THAT is the fear of the Lord so we can conclude if we are able to do THAT, what Joseph did, we are in a good heart state to fear God. If we are falling, and falling, like we commonly do, then this verse is true.
I am aiming to get to this standard, stay on it, tell my children it, practice it here on blazing grace, in the work place. not for salvation but because this is what God wants and I want it too.
but...why do I keep falling? why can't I stay one year sober? one month, one day?
It's impossible without God. It needs a radical heart conversion It must include God's Word It must include God's Spirit
When we forget to read the Word, get in a attitude of "there is my bible, but I don't want to read it" we are showing something serious in our heart. That is my red flag. I don't know if others see that as a red flag.
Scriptures say
Please don't be upset if I sounded harsh. I don't think or feel bad about you in anyway. I also do not say I'm some holy guy for sharing scriptures. I only know TO share scriptures and only want to give you the best of the best. This is like a steak and lobster feast.
Dear God, please help us. Please fill us with your Holy Spirit. Please change our hearts everyday to seek you and give us willingness again. Please help us be able to recognize the attacks of the enemy and be like a Joseph a run for it, Please help my brother and please help me too Lord. I am not immune to attacks Lord, you know. Please forgive us of our sins and please help us in Jesus' name. Amen.

Good Morning, Today I walk free from the struggle, by faith and through the power of the Spirit. I am watchful to what I see and what I allow in my mind. I am free from this addiction or stronghold, in Jesus name. I cannot do this on my on my own. Only through the power of Christ and the assistance of the people of God, I have overcome. I take practical solutions and use them but in the end, it’s God’s power that has freed me. I stand on this in Jesus name, Amen.

I wanted to encourage you, not rebuke you. But if you feel the Lord telling you different then that is better too. I need rebukes, corrections all the time and it hurts but I know deep down, the word of God is real and will help. I'm available to call or email or whatever. I will PM you my details.

iamfree, You mentioned how thoughts and feelings preceded the acting out. And that's where the rubber meets the road. For me, it's just simply not enough to avoid all porn and masturbation. It all starts with thoughts. In order for me to be successful in sobriety, I need to demonstrate custody of my eyes and mind. I can get a heavy fix just off of a fantasy or look of lust. It's kind of like a "little" act out for me. And just like porn, it also leaves me more empty, more depressed, more irritable, more craving, more obsession, etc. Thus, the more I crave, the more I crave. I don't want to encourage using shame based tactics to eradicate all lust in our lives. But the truth is that my cravings don't stop until I stop the craving. And what does fantasy, lust, and craving for porn, which is fornication, do for me? Nothing... It's of no worth. We're better off setting our minds on other things. More praiseworthy things. It's for our benefit. We're not depriving ourselves by doing quitting. Instead, fantasy, lust, craving, thoughts of acting out, only end up depriving us. I don't think we focus enough attention on our thought life. Maybe some believe that if we abstain from the behaviors then purity of eyes and mind will naturally follow. But that's not true! Sanctification is a process from the inside out, not the other way around. The real battle is in our own minds. Let's meet the enemy there.

I am arming and renewing my mind. You are quite right. Porn don’t satisfy. Giving into it and all the other things associated with only keep me in bondage. God did not call none of us to bondage, but to freedom in Christ. And I stand on that! Thank you for your concern and words of instruction and encouragement. Today, I walk free from the struggle, in Jesus name.

Good Morning, Praise God for a wonderful day yesterday and today. Learning to conduct spiritual warfare. Doing the practical things like what I am doing now and at the same time, keeping my spiritual life strong. I can do all things through Christ who empowers me.
Today, I continue my walk in freedom, in Jesus name.

Good Morning, God is awesome! Since my last post, it’s been great. Satan reared his ugly head and praise God, I overcame it. I overcame it by: 1. Strong desire not to give in to the temptation. 2. Stood on and quoted God’s word that told me who I am in Christ and the authority I have in Christ. 3. Took authority in Jesus name and commanded the evil thoughts to leave. 4. Praying in the Spirit or speaking in tongues. 5. Put on praise and worship music and worshipped the Lord and singing along.
By the grace of the Lord, if temptation return, I will consistently do this every time. Today, April 14, 2022, I walk in freedom from the struggle. One day at a time. Continue to pray for me. Praying for all also.

Awesome tools. God gives us tools to conquer our weaknesses. Life is a struggle and we must be diligent in understanding our triggers and turning and connecting to God when we feel weak.
