Hey guys,
Just doing a check in.
Today was an ok day. Being back to work helps, because #1 I was busy, so my mind was occupied and #2 I was not alone.
My goals for the upcoming week is going to be God time every morning. Not entirely sure what that will be and I feel like I am struggling to get it started so it's gonna be a challenge. I guessy main thing is trying to do something with my inward heart stuff.
You guys have any good devotion time ideas? Books, reading plans, etc. Anything would be helpful right now

Hi brother, it's up to you. You are free to choose anything in the Bible, any chapter, any verse, read 3 chapters to read the whole Bible, or read it slowly and take time and prayerfully. This morning I was reading my daily 3 chapters in Exodus. I see a lot of similarities on those times and in ours. Here is what I gathered or here is what I think the Lord was speaking to me on.... ' The Lord said to Moses, “I will send bread down from heaven like rain. Tell the people to go out each day and gather only enough for that day. That's how I will see if they obey me. ' Exodus 16:4
God will see if I obey Him? He did that to the Hebrews. Some did and their manna/food was delicious. Some didn't and collected too much manna as the Lord told Moses to tell them "not" too, but they (who didn't listen and collected too much manna) had that extra manna turn into stinking worms in the next day. I pictured something like maggots.

What is that application to me? God is watching you Dominic to see if you will obey Him. What should I do Lord? God says "Obey" Ok, what do I do Lord now? It's in the morning?
Dear God, please show Todd what you want him to do and lead and guide him. He is seeking you and we are too to learn about you and find Your commands and Your will. Please give the good ideas and heart willingness for Todd and us brothers and sisters to seek you in the morning.
Hey Todd, a brother long time ago asked me. "Dominic, have you ever read the whole Bible?" I answered "No" (Background: I'm in my thirties and still never read it yet when he asked me). It was not a shameful thing, he didn't have ill intenion. I saw his face and it was kind and hopeful.
he said, "if you read just three chapters a day, you can read the whole bible in one year" and with his suggestion...I tried it.....
God, for the first time, helped me to read the entire Bible. I felt like I accomplished something. I actually read it by myself and it was the unfiltered/raw Word of God straight to my soul and God the Holy Spirit just interpreted it for me. I have a lot of questions, but I keep going and pausing for a deeper study.
I think maybe God might want to teach you the Bible personally. 
If you choose another method like a bible plan or study a topic, that is good too.
its our food, and kind of like a science lab where we dig deep and search like a scientist.
I have heart issues too and it's gonna be good brother.

Good early morning,
So far this week I am doing ok.
I have been using the Bible app and the built in devotions they have about sexual sin and porn. So I am trying to get some kind of spiritual life going.
This will be the first time in a long time I have made it through a week without using. Which I feel good about, but also feels like such a small thing when I am shooting for being clean the rest of my life.(hopefully another 40 something years)
Anyway, just wanted to check in.

Thank you for checking in brother. I'm reading through 3 chapters a day. Today was Exodus, God instructed Moses to built the ark of the covenant and have a mercy seat on top. I paused and thought of God sitting on the mercy seat. Keep seeking God and He will empower you, fill you, and do all kinds of things to make you change. It's all a gift, when we drift, the Devil is waiting, but we don't have to think about that, just doing the things you said, reading the Bible, praying, God will help you anytime all the time. God is good.
Dear God, please help recoverytodd to keep close and please use him to be a man of God. Please help us too. In Jesus' name. Amen.

I know that God desires me to be sexually pure for rest of my life. But over the years, I've discovered that it's easiest for me to just focus on today. I can't do anything about yesterday, and I certainly don't know about tomorrow. Jesus said in the Bible to not think about tomorrow. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Good job on the one week. And it's a good thing to lean on God's strength. Let's make today count. |

Amen to that! Thinking longer-term than today both backwards and forwards has always been a bad move that can lead to stumbling for me. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.

Good afternoon.
I was just approved to be a part of the forums here.
I am a dad and husband in my 40's
I am a Christian, although I struggle a lot with porn and unwanted SSA.
I am in counseling, but need some day to day support/accountability/whatever...
I feel pretty desperate to make changes. I feel like my spiritual life is close to dead. My relationship with my wife and kids are ok, but mostly because my wife doesn't know I still struggle with porn stuff.
Honestly, I hate the lust, but I also like it too. I don't say that lightly, but only to convey where I am really at in this struggle.
In some ways I am better than i was several years ago, when my wife found out and I was constantly looking for guy attention and acceptance.
Its different now, but the porn is still the big thing I cant seem to make any progress in.
Its about 1x a week.
I hate how I feel afterwards, how I let it control me, how it goes against what/who I want to be, how I know it is blatant sin and I don't want to sin.
Yet, I keep finding my way back to it.
I have over thought and under thought this struggle until I am just so confused about what I am suppossed to do to kick it.
So - here I am looking for something that affects my heart enough to change.Interesting Todd, what you had to say about your struggles. I would have to say probably most of us go through similar struggles and actions.
I will point out a couple of things though that is not conducive to anyone's recovery or healing.
1. The difference between a male and female thought processes. (They are not the same.) 2. The blame and excuse game differences. God will not except your excuse that it was your spouse who had the problem. With this Corona virus keeping us separated from honest fellowship and apart from social media sites and our poor communication skills, many in our families choose to look at our spouses faults instead of our own.
And then sometimes though we can not see our own faults and I think if we just look at the relationship Christ had with certain Apostles and Him showing their faults in love. And I think you will find He did it always verbally.
Just because the world or the Church for that matter condones some of our actions, does not make them right. And a great example is; Divorce and remarriage over pornography, which reminds me of a lesson shared on a fairly new Christian movie. (We have a track coach who is asked a question about running in the rain. And her answer was an example of divorce instead of obeying God and working through or running in the rain. The movie "The Perfect Race" 2019. The Actress; Allee Sutton Hethcoat as the Coach both in this movie and it's sister movie "Remember The Goal," 2016. Both movies are chock-full of Biblical lessons and worth watching and learning.
The fact that you hate the lust at the same time you love it, sounds familiar, I'm the same way. And though the focus of us is decidedly different, we let our guard down on a regular basis if I understand you. The world says we have an addiction/disease, God call's it rebellion/sin.
My first wife and I did a few sexual sin's together, she got to the point she was not able to continue in that life style, I did. It caused major problems in the family and we separated to protect the family. She passed away this past year.
My current wife, though we are separated for health and financial reasons had a rather interesting sexual past also and though she knows most of my past, just not all of it. So I can not speak on keeping secrets in the family other than to say it is not good and should not be kept. And the control our sexual sin's have over us keep us guilt ridden as you indicated. I think it is called a love hate syndrome.

ihave beeen in yourshoes for a very long time and a few weeks ago i just had enough of this life. I said no more!! I am now about four weeks clean if not longer from porn. I also think when you are tired of it and want a change that is when you change. Constant prayers daily. I tend to wanna still stare and imagine but no more porn and masturbation.

Hi Chris,
How are you doing these days? I'm just going around asking people who have not been here for a while. Well, I hope you can share some post of trial/error/encouragement or anything that you feel led too. We are all in this together and praying to God for help. No pressure if you are not ready to share too.
Dear Lord, please bless Chris and please give him good wisdom and insight and good strength to pass alll the trails he has to face, please let him feel the Mighty Presence of God. In Jesus' name. Amen.
