I'm starting a new thread because I've decided I will no longer live like a victim. I've listed some verses I'm planning to live by. The only weapon Satan has is lies therefore all I need is the truth to be found in Gods Word. This battle will not be easy but it is worth it . 1 Samuel 4:9 KJV [9] Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight. Hebrews 12:4 KJV [4] Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV [7] For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Hebrews 12:1&2 KJV [1] Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us , and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, [2] Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Joel 2:25&26 KJV [25] And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you [26] And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

Big test, I'm waiting for my car to finish being work on and reading posts on BG, I came here because Satan was trying to get me to go elsewhere. In walks a pair of yoga pants, yes I know there's a person attached but that's all that passes my find of vision. I'm grateful to say I kept my eyes and most of my mind where it should be. I'm now going outside to finish waiting .

I allowed myself to be "drawn away by my own lust" today. I started to beat myself up but then I saw them for what they were (Satan using lost people) and was able to move on. Proverbs 27:7 KJV [7] The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. John 4:13&14 KJV [13] Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: [14] But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Hi men, are you still fighting, it's time I pick the sword back up. I started to write I'm completely out of control but that's not true, I'm as in control as I chose to be . I keep forgetting Jesus didn't just sell me a fire insurance policy, he promised an abundant but not trouble or trial free life. For me a little has never been enough.

I wrote last night but must not have hit post. Here's a trick I leaned from AA, hi my name is Rical and I'm a PA. I choose to look at porn again yesterday. It started with reading samples of exotic literature and progressed to looking at pictures. I thought about mb to relieve the pressure but I yielded to the Holy Spirit who told me I was just trying to justify my sin. I'm posting this morning to remind myself that I am not in control therefore I must stay away from anything that allows me to see or think about a woman in any form of undress or sexual act. As a man God has put desires in my heart but I suffer from what the AA 12 step book refers to as "God given instincts run amok.

Did much better yesterday although I did do a little flesh hunting on Facebook. On the AA coins is an inscription "to thine own self be true ", the only way to victory for me is to be honest with myself; what and why and what will be the end result of what I'm getting ready to do. James 1:14&15

I positioned myself today to sneak peaks. I was honest with myself earlier in day when I had opportunity but later I just went back to my ways.

I'm doing better in my flesh but still having some big battles in my spirit. I wanted to go my way yesterday. I used the follow through method which ask the question "where will this lead". I am happy to say that by not acting on impulse, I was able to move on to something else. I escape through reading appropriate fiction but that is still keeping from my Bible. My next step in recovery is to stop being slothful and to read more things that take brain power.

Keeping your brain busy is a good coping skill. I think a lot of us have issues with not spending enough time reading our bibles. I struggle in that area. I have to make myself sit down and read scripture.
You are doing well in your fight. You are learning and progressing.

I agree with Amy on reading the Bible. We should take time to read it. But along with that, you really have to make ENOUGH time to actually read and meditate on what you read, because I can read my Bible every day for a week and not get anything. But I can sit down and actually take time to pay attention and study what I am reading, and do that once in a week and get so much more. That's not to say you shouldn't read the Bible every day, but before you do, you need to examine yourself and the reasons WHY you are actually reading.

Hey Rical, well not me so far, I'm still on it. I think people do make it off though! Reading an excellent book right now, 'Sexual Healing' by David Kyle Foster. Highly recommend it. Here are some words from it that really made a lot of sense:
"When we try to heal ourselves...we stand in the way of God's healing...Additionally, any healing wrought in such a dificient fashion will, by virtue of the fact that the construction was done by us rather than God, be faulty and eventually collapse"
He says that seeking God and a more intimate relationship with Him is the only way for us to get clean.

Just dig your feet in the sand and dont let satan move you. Oh... i have to have hope thats its possible.. because honestly and tearfully.. if i lose hope at this point... i will have nothing left!
