I have recently ended my relationship with a SA who was very good at gas lighting even in the face of hard evidence. Please pray that God will protect my heart and mind from believing anything but the truth. After feeling so strong in my resolve, I am feeling weak and broken this morning.
Thank you

I am praying for you. Chase after God. When we need Him the most is when we tend to pull away from Him.
Remember this everything that your ex says is a lie. The only thing you might be able to trust is his actions...and That is a big maybe. Some addicts are very good at acting the part of a repentant sinner to hide their addiction.

I will be praying for you hopedee - that God would draw you close to Him, guide you and strengthen you to stand firm. I encourage you to get into the Bible and read Gods word during this time. A favorite verse of mine that I also taught my children when they were but toddlers (so we could all say it together and encourage one another during tough times) is Ephesians 6:10. "Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power."
And Ephesians continues with how to stand strong...
"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:10-17 NIV

Oh Hopedee, What you did must have been hard and I understand to some degree what it feels like breaking up. It took courage and for that I applaud you. May I say that you are one tough woman, perhaps stronger than you give yourself credit for. Now that one door has closed, eventually others will begin to open and you will see things through a different light. Your friends are praying for you and God is very proud of you. It may not feel good or right right now, but believe me (a recovering addict) he was not thinking of changing anything for you. You did the right thing. You are going to be better in the long run.

Hello hopedee...
I have been wondering about you since posting about your discoveries in your relationship. I am so, so sorry for what you have gone through, and know that I am right there with you. I have recently made the hard decision to divorce my husband because he is an unrepentant SA. I had a very hard time this morning, sitting in my car at work crying my eyes out. I grabbed my Jesus Calling Devotional book, and the first four words on the page for today were DO NOT BE AFRAID...Praise God!!!
Know that it will get worse before it gets better, but understand that it WILL get better. I have been on this rollercoaster just shy of one year, and since I made the decision to move forward, I have had a renewed sense of hope return that has been missing for so long. There will be moments that are unbearable, so when those times come, CRY OUT TO GOD. He hears you, and He hurts when you hurt...the scripture says He is close to the brokenhearted.
It may seem small, but know that someone out there is thinking of you, and praying God's grace, strength and resolve for you today. Let us know how you are doing. Love and hugs.
